Don't know if it still happens, but back in the 80s when Crisis of Conscience first came out our local library had 3 copies. But within a year all 3 were stolen or misplaced. Also lost or stolen was the library's copy of Timothy White's A People For His Name and Barbara Harrison's Visions Of Glory. None of the books were rare editions or autographed by the authors so they weren't valuable in a monetary sense.

i know it's a small part and all i did was ask.boy am i proud.

What outward signs of apostacy are evident in your house?
by AK - Jeff inif the elders came and inspected your home - what would they find?.
a casual look around reveals a box of "narnia" tissues on my desk, 12 or 14 non-witness translations of bibles on my shelves, many non approved novels [wifey's] on the reading table, plenty of 'apostate literature', a book or two on meditation, a hypnosis cd for weight loss, prob many toys that are not witness approved in the g-kids room, a half eaten birthday cake, a birthday balloon, xmas wrapping paper in the closet , a couple of r rated movies, music that is not acceptable.. that is just at first blush.
how is your house?

The JWs would probably be shocked just coming up the walkway to my house. I have a statue of St. Francis in the front to greet them. Near the rose garden is a statue of St. Patrick and across the walk is a statue of Our Lady. On the wall above my bed is a Jerusalem Cross and on the left side of the dresser mirror hangs a Catholic Rosary, and on the right is a Russian Orthodox Rosary. However, the JWs would probably consider these items Babylonish rather than apostasy. Though I do have Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom in my library. Possession of these books would probably get one the apostate label

Have Witness Funerals and Memorial Services Changed?
by Athanasius inafter reading the thread on mickey spillane's memorial service it sounded like the jws are changing their funeral program.
or was this because of spillane's celebrity status?
in the past the witness funeral outline told the elder conducting the memorial service not eulogize the deceased, but to promote watchtower doctrines.

I like the $3 Russell bill that Comments From the Friends used to print. It had Russell's picture on the front and his pyramid on the back. The logo said that "the Watchtower was as phoney as a three dollar bill." When I attended a DC back in 89 I dropped a few in the contribution boxes. The JW money changers must have thought the apostates had infiltrated the convention.

That ribbon looks like it was from a Laymen's Home Missionary Movement convention. They hold their yearly conventions in Pennsylvania and still use the Cross and Crown symbol. This group was founded by Paul S. L. Johnson who broke with Rutherford in 1917. They publish The Bible Standard and The Present Truth magazines. They have a website so this should be easy to research.
Rutherford banned the Cross and Crown from Watchtower publications in the early 1930s.

Are you happier out of the org?
by dobbie inhi everyone i was just wondering if those of you that have left the org for whatever reason, have found your'e much happier than when you were in it?probably a daft question but i tried to talk to a friend about how i was feeling about a few things and why i don't go to meetings and she said would i really be any happier out than in?it just got me thinking about why i joined in the first place, because i was lonely and down, although i still am several years later it seems!have you found life better on the outside?did you feel a sense of freedom or was it really hard to adjust?when i try to explain what i find hard in the religion they can always say something back that then makes me think i was wrong in the first place and it is the truth after all - aagh!

Disassociate or "Fade"
by done4good ini know this has probably been discussed before, but i would like to take a poll of your thoughts as to what you personally would do, disassociate yourself or just fade over time.
i've been in the process of "fading" myself since november of last year, (last meeting in january, and never going back).
i have been considering making it official though by formal letter of da.

Fade if you can get away with it.
