You are correct. The FDS were said to have been appointed over all his belongings in the publications (OM book) , even listing the physical material things as those belongings. So those things were all subject to lawsuit, as were the personal belongings of those of the FDS class that were said to be all of the anointed at the time. So by suing the FDS as a class the organization had to admit that there really was no such thing tangibly and they basically now say that the FDS is only the governing body and only when they meet together as a body. That lawsuit seems to have killed the FDS doctrine so they could protect their asses, I mean assets.

Overwhelmed
by Freedom rocks indoes anyone else feel overwhelmed on what to believe?.
i've been doing lots of research on beliefs, evolution, creationism but i feel no further forward about what i truly believe.
for example i looked at the fossil record and tiktaalic and thought great it proves a lot but then i've seen counter arguments on youtube of people basically saying its a load of rubbish and doesn't prove anything.

Are you still looking for "The TRUTH"? Because unless you're the one doing all of the research initially, and none of us can be the foremost expert on everything, you're always at the mercy of someone else. Things like evolution have a ton of evidence so you know it happened on some level. Nobody knows what started everything conclusively, and if there's a god that kicked it all off then I hope it isn't the one in the bible that is a genocidal nutjob in a book with a myriad of issues, and if you want to put faith in that god fine but you could just as soon put faith in the god of many other religions so who cares.
Like Anders said, it's perfectly okay not to know everything. It doesn't have to impact your life. I know enough but don't care to know it all anyway. Life is more fun with a little bit of mystery, and if something really bothers you then investigate it. But you don't have to let the search for something that cannot necessarily be found on every little thing drive you crazy. One of the things that I had to learn is that I'm not always in control, stuff happens, and all we can do is try to react the best we can.

JW org collapses
by I Faded Twice inok so this is a topic i've pondered and go back and forth on.. i can easily see a point where lawsuits cause massive deficits in the organization.
honestly i feel like we are seeing the tip of the iceberg in regards to lawsuits on child abuse.
to me it looks like the property sell offs are to be able to get ready for this.

Vidiot - OK, I have a question for the naysayers...
...how often in the past, when things were bad, do you think things got changed for the better when people kept saying it wouldn't or couldn't?
Sure, we don't want to say that the Org is doomed and then not see it happen. I totally get not wanting to set ourselves up for constant disappointment... we had more than enough of that shit year after year when we were active JWs.
Has it occurred to any of you, though, that maybe believing that it can and will happen just might be something we need to do...
...not only to give us some (and the irony is not lost on me) hope? That bad guys who do bad things will pay for it somehow, someday?
But also because I suspect that if we stop believing it, we'll stop fighting towards that goal (however manner in which we fight).
Think about it... if we let ourselves "accept" that the WTS will continue to survive and thrive and outlive all of us no matter what, how is that really any different than giving up?
Hell, we all may as well stop bothering to even post here, as far as I'm concerned.I like your posts but I could not disagree more here. This is really black or white, all or nothing. If you need to hold on to false hope that an entire organization collapses and disappears in order for you to.......well..........whatever you personally do, then that's not very balanced. Why do you need an entire cult to collapse in order to still post on a forum or help people? I mean, that's crazy.
I help people and do a lot of activism without any hope that the cult collapses. If I help one person I've done more than I ever did as an active JW, and I've been able to help many more than that to leave. I just don't get this emotional need for them do experience utter demise in your lifetime. Or else what?
You can still help people without living a fantasy. We lived a fantasy for our entire lives as JWs. Reality is that the cult is taking hits, and that's great, though ultimately their numbers continue to grow. It is slowing in many first world nations. That's fantastic. People are seeing through their crap. That's great. More and more people are being inoculated against them as articles and videos and podcasts and forum posts and documentaries and even movies expose them. That's great. Why can't that be enough? Utopia doesn't exist. People will always be hurt by other people, if it isn't JWs it will be another cult. If it isn't that it will be political, or whatever. That doesn't mean that we don't still fight to help people and make changes where we can.If you need to believe that it will collapse, so be it. We aren't all the same, don't have the same needs. I don't need that. I just need to help the person in front of me when I put myself out there and they're responsive. That's all. I accept that the organization as a whole will outlive me. So what? There are still people looking for help and I'm not going to wait around for an entire cult to collapse to help them.

I don't see them ever disappearing. Cults can exist without buildings. They could do everything online, they play shell games with money already and if they had to you know they'd just go to cash handshakes, so to speak. Cockroaches don't die. You can't destroy the brainwashing and people want to believe so they will.

latest jw community podcast has THE best interview
by cobweb inno really, its golden stuff.
i just listened to it and it contains an amazing interview with an australian activist who i only vaguely have heard of called steven unthank.
he is one of the best guests i've heard on that show, competing with the governing body helper they interviewed once.

Yeah, that guy is great. I had no knowledge of that whole FDS incident. He's a well spoken guy and he's clearly giving a lot of time and resources in his pursuits. I applaud his efforts.
I had seen the post here regarding Gillies but didn't read it and then Unthank spoke about him in the episode. That was fascinating too.

How Long Before They Introduce Tithing?
by pale.emperor inwhen i was a full-on believing jw i had an obsessive fascination with mormonism.
i read, studied and watched their propaganda with strange interest as well as their apostate mormon books.
i have to say, they have a good scam going claiming that "the lord reintroduced tithing" in the modern age.

Lol, he thinks he's making points to lurkers. No wonder he's in a cult, he's delusional as can be, not to mention a coward incapable of honest discussion on anything. Ducker avoids any questions he can and any lurker could see through your garbage. You've been doing it for years under different names. Out of curiosity, how many lurkers have you saved over that time?

When will you just fuck off? Your arguments are so stupid.
Other religions help people with their programs. I know this is a novel concept to someone so captive to their cult, but just as a wild and crazy idea, JWs could actually do good in their communities with programs to help those in need. I know that's beyond you. If you do good to only those called a brother, of what benefit is it?
Add to that the number of dubs on the government dole and that struggle week to week to make ends meet that receive zero help from the congregation. I personally knew of those instances.
I know this is yet another concept your feeble mind can't grasp, but just because you help someone doesn't mean that they're indebted to you. Of course, as someone whose mind is clearly controlled by the cult, you couldn't fathom that help A.) could be offered to people outside of your own cult and B.) could be offered without the concept of control.
Don't you get tired of getting punked on here? Do you have any self-worth?
Now kindly fuck off, the adults here were having a conversation. You can use me being mean to you as a reason to tuck your tail, avoid my earlier questions that show even your username to be untruthful, and hide out again and come back later, as you do. It's okay buddy.

Good point Incognito, they do pass around slips and pressure people to make promises as to future donations and then to pay what they vow. They already have congregations on that everlasting mortgage plan.
I don't see them ever going to a straight tithe model of a certain percentage, but they'll just do what they do and be underhanded in the process the whole way. When you have 8,000,000 brain dead followers that you've manipulated into following your direction, you can get what you want.
