Tight hats are made by the gays. Homosexuals design those tight hats so they can see your head bulging out. Would a true servant of the Most High wear such a revealing hat? No. If you have a problem with it, take it up with heaven.

My dad RIP
by ScottyRex inmy dad died 2 weeks ago on sunday.
i will miss him so much.
he was the funniest most greatest man i have ever known.. granted for the first 30 years i wasnt that much keen on him and i don't think he was on me much either.....let me explain.. mum and dad met in 1964, mum was the prettiest girl in the town, mini skirts, raised hair, the daintiest figure, she looked the spit of audrey hepburn at breakfast at tiffanys.

Beautifully written. So sorry for your loss. I know it doesn't make up for the pain of your youth but it sounds like you left things good with him, that you had made amends to the best of his ability, and that is huge.

Crooked Teeth
by Introvert 2 inwell 55 yo this summer times flies.. was in my late thirties when i started thinking about getting braces or some other treatment for my crowded teeth.
decided to put it off a few years later as 'the new system' ™ was right around the corner.
then went through a huge burn out depression and my teeth became a lesser priority.

My wife has had an awful time with her teeth. I wish I could afford to give her the smile she's always wanted. Not only does she have crooked teeth, they also formed without proper enamel so as to protect them, so she's just had so many problems with cavities and such. She takes good care of them, but they are just problems and growing up she was super self-conscious. She wouldn't smile much in order to hide them.
Her cheap ass parents took her to the dentist and the recommendation was braces. My wife wanted them but her mom took the dentist in the other room and talked to him. He came in and literally told her to push on her teeth with popsicle sticks to even them out. WTF?
So she never got them taken care of. Just a couple years ago we dropped a sizable sum on fixing cavities and a few other things. She might need a crown or two. Oh, and she just had the surgery to remove all four wisdom teeth at 37 years of age. It's hard enough to keep up with the expenses without the cost of braces or whatever. Maybe someday. I don't care myself, but I know that she does on some level, though we've talked about it numerous times and she seems pretty cool with it at this point and smiles beautifully instead of hiding.

I totally agree with slimboyfat and my wife said the same but in the end what's done is done and we can be happy to have what we have. It seems strange to delay it for so long to insert her own story into it along with other choices but it was still out there on the interwebs, as it should have been if her choice was to delay for unnecessary reasons. What's done is done, most everyone got what they wanted, and it's time to move on.

Padron Case Settled. What happens to the fine?
by Slidin Fast init seems that irwin zalkin has obtained undisclosed settlement in the case.
the $4000 a day fine then seems to be dead.
the downside?

Bobby - That alone appeals to the “new generation”. So I completely disagree with you. Had they still been forcing us to carry bound volumes to the meetings and brief cases, then sure.
But we can use iPads, tablets, and smart phones. That’s really right up the alleys of young people."Us" and "we", hmmmmm......

Wow, I agree with Bobby. Rumors of Watchtower's demise have been exaggerated. They still grow, and they rake in money. Unless they make catastrophic financial decisions they're going to never feel the pain of lawsuits. Still, at least these people that sue walk away with something. Most of us walk away with nothing from them.
Still, these people got something out of it and people are leaving, especially in developed countries. Activism helps people. Just not at a rate yet that reverses growth trends. I don't think JWs will ever cease to exist, but I think we can help many leave. I hate how these cases go silent though.

Blood Card Issue
by pometerre21 ini posted this on r/exjw, but i thought i might post it here as well.
so the elders in our kh are moving to get us to sign new simplified blood cards and keep them on file.
i really need to not rock the boat in my current pimo status because of circumstances.. my cousin knows i have doubts about the blood thing, but i can’t show her that my doubts are getting to me.

Is your life worth playing legal games over? I don't know the technicalities, but I do know that in the event of an emergency they will bring that copy to the hospital and lock you down. Who is then going to show up with some other documents rescinding the no blood mandate? Will they stand a chance when Witness after Witness to your JW affiliation says that they saw you sign the card, saw you at the meetings, etc? What if you need blood now and it's delayed for a legal fight?
Don't sign the card or give them copies. That would be my stance if I had to stay in. Your life isn't worth any of those people.
