You seem to have a ton of questions. Something that might help you is to listen to my 9 part series called This JW Life. You can listen on iTunes or wherever you like (Google Play, other podcast apps). You can also stream directly from my site at thisjwlife.com. I think it would help present everything in one package for you. I make no money on it, there's no ulterior motives, I just shared to help people understand that life.

Things you didn't expect to like...
by sparrowdown instuff you never expected you would do or enjoy doing as a non-witness.... researching - always thought i hated study and reading turns out it was just wt literature i hated studying and reading.
having political opinions and just having opinons and beliefs that are not set in stone and that i am free to assess, review and adjust as i become more aware of imformation .
droping the f-bomb every now and again to make a point feels surprisingly good but that may just be post-religious rebellion that wears off... eventually.

Motherly Love, that "Unbreakable Bond"
by Simon inmy father died a couple of months ago.
he'd been ill for some time and had many health scares and heart troubles over the years but always managed to keep on going.
then one time he didn't.. i'm glad i got to know him again and spend some more time with him after so many years missed because of the wts but those years will always be lost forever.

Ugh so much loss due to that craptastic cult and the drones that follow it. I'm sorry it cost you so much but glad you and your dad reconnected.
I won't be attending my mom's funeral either. She brought that poisonous garbage into our home and wrecked our family with it. I truly blame her for so much, regardless of her motives, and think she's a truly awful person. I have compassion for what got her there, but find it hard to let go of the destruction she brought in and her continued adherence to it.
So glad you still had some family, and that experience overseas sounds amazing. Good for you.

Nephew’s JW Fiancée Begins Conversion to Judaism Due to Passover Date
by Rabbi Midge init’s been a while since i posted, but for those who remember, i came on here to get some information about jehovah’s witnesses because i have a nephew who was getting engaged to a girl who was a jehovah’s witness and, along with some other sites, i was recommended this one.. since then we’ve been busy with passover and jehovah’s witnesses have had something they call the memorial of christ’s death (i believe i have that right).
this clashing of the two observances apparently did more for this girl than anything else i ever saw in our months of conversations with her.. respectfully, jews do not proselytize.
these are people who, of their own desire, “join the tribe” after some years of study and practice--something this girl has just begun to do.

Eh, I'm confused, but whatever the case I wish everyone well. Not really knowing who you're talking to is part of the interwebs. For all you guys know I'm a wealthy and brilliant man masquerading as a podcast superstar that cleans houses. I have to lay low to keep the fans away.
Whatevs. This thread didn't go well no matter who was behind it. Best to just move on and be happy.

Wow. That would explain why they sent me a pm with personal information on David Jay. I thought it was weird but was glad to hear that he was doing well. If he's pretending things like this it makes me wonder how well he's really doing. I like busting liars as much as the next person, but this is also sad if true.

Fading with Confidence
by gone for good inabandoning a damaging cult is not a crime, in fact it might be viewed as a moral imperative given the levels of abuse awaiting those surrendering to its teachings and worse –its "ecclesiastic authority".. it has always seemed counter productive to inform potential enemies when your life´s goals now conflict with their rigid agendas.
disassociation letters and manifestos may be cathartic in the writing, but the outcome is a 100% certainty because of the inflexibility and lack of caring by the very group it is delivered to.. .
"fading" from under "high control" seems an oxymoronic risk at best, and currently faders walk on eggshells and look over their shoulders for years during and after the attempt - fearful that the price of their freedom will be the destruction of their friendships and family ties.. perhaps a peculiar additional preparation to a fade can reverse the balance of power – and high control cults are all about power.. .. bear in mind: - .

They will do what they want. People keep making things up to try to feel powerful in the situation. If you want to fade, just do it knowing the repercussions. If you want to disassociate, the same applies. If being disfellowshipped is your thing, do that. These made up workarounds are typically the product of desperation and ego, trying to control others. Just do you. If you think threatening with lawsuits will work, go for it, just know that you likely have little true legal recourse and they may cower or may call you on it.

advice please/data protection
by Phoebe ini have just received an email from an elder's wife regarding the new data protection laws.
between the lines it sounds like she has been asked to contact me.. she says they 'don't want to leave me out' so they want me to fill out the form as 'i'm still part of the congregation'.
also, my blood card needs updating, apparently.. the elder in charge will be in contact.. obviously, i'm not doing either, but what do i do?

I always like an "I'm good, thanks". I just repeat it over and over. No, is a complete sentence and you can go with that, and I've recommended that before. If it doesn't feel good or you're worried about how they'll take it, an "I'm good, thanks" repeated over and over again seems less confrontational than a simple NO. But we're worried about you..........I'm good, thanks. Well, you know that Jehovah is directing the organization and they need our information to protect us........I'm good, thanks. I'll have Brother Smith contact you to get that from you.........I'm good, thanks. Tony Morris just died.........I'm good, thanks. You just won the lottery!............I'm good, thanks. See, it works as a yes, as a no, as a celebration that the world is short one more horrible man or that I hit it big financially. I'm good, thanks.

That was interesting. I enjoyed hearing how the Borg went after him for all of these things that weren't under his control, you know, like how the cult keeps the GB one step removed. Good for him and screw them.

Are you a woman? Do you know one?
by dubstepped inif you can answer yes to either question, you should consider listening to the latest episode of "shunned".
in it, brenda tells her story inside the flds cult, a story of women and what they go through.
this is happening right here in the united states.

@Nathan - Well then, here's your chance to change that. Listen to the podcast and you'll finally feel like you know one. ;)
