Thanks forum friends! I was just excited at the news and had to tell someone. I was cleaning a house when I got the call. The reporter has a few irons in the fire currently but I was told that he will reach out to me within the next week or so, hopefully.

Final Episode of David's Story regarding sexual abuse and Jehovah's Witnesses was released today....
by dubstepped ini've just released the final podcast from david's story which is a bonus episode formed from a discussion that we had in the pre-interview.
i think that it contained some valuable information and insights through our discussion of not just the response (or lack thereof) to sexual abuse within the cult of jehovah's witnesses, but also about other related matters.. i hope that david's openness about his life has made an impact on others, and invite any that listen to leave him a word of encouragement at http://shunnedpodcast.com/episodes/ under either episode 6, 7, or 8, all relating to his story.
i was fortunate enough to be able to take part in the telling of his story and it has impacted me for sure.. you can find the "shunned" podcast on itunes (apple podcasts), google play, wherever you choose to get podcasts, or streaming right from my site on the page linked above.

Glad you like it Wakanda! I'll have a new episode out sometime the first week of April. I'm excited because I've got some great interviews coming up, including this forum's own pale.emperor and a lady that escaped the FLDS cult (Warren Jeffs).

What is this "religion"?
by Kom 197 infor a long time, i was convinced jehovah witnesses were just people preaching the word of god in a different way than other christians.
i was shown the real truth over the past few months.
i've been friends with this guy for over 5 years.

@neatbluedog - I have to admit that with a migraine today the walls of text that she wrote tended to run together so perhaps I mistook how strong his relationship with the JWs was.
And perhaps brainwashing was the wrong term, but no doubt a long term relationship starting so young has a sort of enmeshment (substitute that for brainwashing) that is extra hard to pull away from. Clearly this lady has her own spiritual walk but it's likely that if he's a strong personality or has a strong pull toward the cult then he's impacted her. That much is clear or she wouldn't be here.
What's absurd is to encourage a person to pursue a relationship at such a young age and with so little experience where the guy already broke up with her for the cult. Go find someone more healthy. You're young and chasing something you started at 14 that has at least one major red flag. Most people aren't with the person they were with at 14 long term. There are reasons for that. Not that it can't work, but you're chasing something that has proven to be bad instead of pursuing good. That's my opinion. Yours may differ. We're not in a cult and don't have to agree.

Run!!!!!!!! He's in a cult. He's not free from the indoctrination, he's not got free will, and he will fuck you over if you keep going down this path.
Forget how long you've known each other. If you met him today in a bar you'd run. Don't throw good time after bad. In fact, the fact that you've known each other since you were so young probably means he's been subtly influencing you to brainwash you too. JWs can't help it. Brainwashed people brainwash people.
Run, run, run. You're on a forum with people that know the ins and outs of this cult and we can't save our family members, so what chance do you have? Very little. He has to want to break away and you can't make someone want something that they don't want.

Helpless and Very Sad Grandmother
by Brenda Cook ini am the grandmother of the runaway 18year old girl who is now living with her 22 year old idiot.
this person has totally brainwashed my granddaughter and is continuing to separate her from our family.
i feel so helpless that there is nothing we can do to make her see this - no money, no identity, and a servant to him and his family.

Have you read the other THREE threads started by your daughter? We've already been through all of this. In the end she's an adult and her life isn't yours to control. There is lots of good advice in those other threads.
With that said, I'm sorry for your loss, as it stands today.

Of course I was excited but things take time and you never know if they'll pan out. I still don't know for sure, but a reporter called my friend today and asked him how to contact me. I'm so excited even at the possibility that I could burst!
It would be so poetic. When I was a kid there was a story that hit big in the papers here about a scandal in a congregation in another area (if memory serves, I was a kid). I remember specifically being told at meetings not to read the paper or their apostate lies. I didn't, of course. Now I could actually be that apostate, lol.
Will it happen? Who knows. But things ARE happening. My last interviewee for "shunned", David, crashed his local KH and outed his abuser. I even have the audio on the podcast. When you put yourself out there good things can happen. If this newspaper story gets done and published it will only add to my joy in this. The goal was to give a voice to the voiceless, to tell the other side of the story, and to help people by doing so. I might get to add to that soon and just knowing that people are taking notice makes me so happy.
I'll avoid posting specifics unless it happens. I don't want to tip anything too much but if it happens everyone will know. I don't know the circulation now but it is a nice sized metro area. Last time I saw it was somewhere around a couple hundred thousand in circulation in a metro area of a million or so.

Jesus Christ—The Greatest Scientist (and Psychologist) who ever lived on earth!
by Ireneus inif we eliminate all the controversial and confusing verses attributed to jesus we will get the crystal clear truth from him because his source was (1) god which can be seen from his habit of early morning talking to god in prayer (mark 1:35; john 8:1, 2) which would not have been for material blessings (mathew 6:8; 16:24), and (2) also observance of people.. 1) jesus who said judgment is based on whether we acted humanely or not (mathew 25:31-46) would not have spoken about god’s people and pagans (which means bulk of the things found in gospel had not been spoken/done by jesus).. 2) another important truth he said was about the real key to our happiness which he said is with each one of us.
(luke 17:21).
from his observance of history, he knew there are people from adversities who made great contribution to the world; and there are people from all abundance who lived a life of wastage accomplishing nothing; and there are people who are mixed in varying degree.

Lol, if he's the "great psychologist" then why are his followers batshit crazy? Why is religiosity often a sign of mental illness? You also literally said that some people had perfect control of their mind. Yeah, I don't think so. But whatever makes you feel special. Grandiosity is often a sign of mental illness too.

Once the elders started that crap we disassociated. Never heard from any of them again. No more playing their games. I realize that may not be an option for you. Well, it's always an option, but it may not be a choice that you're willing to make right now.

Look, you're running around here posting strange "tricks" from the jump and now telling people what they can or can't post in response to you. People are trying to help but you're reeling and bouncing around and need to calm down from my vantage point. Nothing is on fire here.
The same person that told you to post looking for someone in the area also seemed to do so with the notion that you out your daughter to the local congregation but you already said you weren't going to do that. So then, why do you need someone?
You also left out that she doesn't have identification because you withheld it from her. She wasn't kidnapped. She chose to leave. She's not in the best situation for sure because she's involved with a cult, but it's not the end of the world and there may be more to this story that we don't know and won't get from you. People are trying to help and your loaded language from the beginning didn't help so you'll have to receive feedback whether you like that feedback or not.
There's a lot of drama for sure, but it isn't all coming from that home so far away. You mentioned your daughter's lies as a way to paint her as being manipulated. Maybe she's just a liar, maybe she is being manipulated, or maybe there's a reason she feels she has to lie to you specifically. Again, drama doesn't just live on one side of the country. Figuring out the "why" behind all of this may help more than the "what" and "where" of the current situation.
You're mad at them for taking her in, but you took him in. In fact, a lot of what you said above that you were mad about was about you, how you feel tricked by him. You were fine with all if this until it got out from under your control.
Please look inward because the only thing you can control is you. If you want her back, you have to be the person she wants to come to.

Yeah, this question is a mind fuck. My wife and I are struggling right now to figure those things out, to figure out who we are in ways. Heck, we were talking earlier about how neither of us has a style when it comes to how we dress. I have no clue how to look cool and all of her clothes are based on being "modest". They told us what to like (cult activities), kept us from influences and experiences that others have growing up the help shape them, ugh, just fuck them all. I soooo wish I never heard the name Jehovah.
