  whether or not you believe the bible to be true, you must admit that the portrayal of some of its characters are really dumb.

  my picks for stupidest characters in the good book are:.

  eve: gets the dunce cap and the invite to stand in the corner everlastingly.

  we have all had some bad moments at the door ... i have had my share ... so, i thought i would share mine in a series of short post: .

  i was working in a territory with a group, going door to door.

  we broke up and worked individually.

  I can remember one time mistaking a man for a woman and used a phrase something like "and a lady like yourself etc".

  They quietly put me right and I sort of said "oh I meant your mum" lol. a lie as well.

  I never returned to that call.

  BTW welcome to the board Terri. I hope your JW life isnt too stressful.

  What did you think of "Simplification" ???

  i know now what was behind many of the simplification procedures that were adopted at the assemblies over the years.

  the books and food were given away to avoid tax problems.

  but what did you think about it when you were a jw?.

  Brilliant post Swan.

  I just wish we had read more into the changes at the time and we might have got out sooner.

  The one thing we did understand was the change to paperback books. We then saw this as cost cutting and not "simplification'". I cant remember what year that happened though.

  I'm **so** glad I won't be in 'the new system'

  because i hate gardening !!!.

  after many, many weeks or months of hard labour, clearing away 3 or 4 skips worth of rubble from paths, sheds and greenhouses, digging over soil and leveling it we finally layed our turf today!.

  i am knackered and don't even have any beer in the house .

  Hi Simon

  That is a BIG space to keep under.

  Is that turfs I spy? You could have seeded and then not had to cut the grass for months whilst it grew. Therefore gaining a mud pile for the boys to play in this summer and peaceful evenings with no grass to cut. (Just a thought LOL)

  You could also have got Charlie Dymock to come round.

  It looks a lovely house and garden for everyone to enjoy.

  Hi Hamas

  so sorry to hear about your friend.

  We know why he is doing it but he doesnt understand you at the moment.

  He might not talk to you ATM but he will be thinking of you.

  Hopefully you might be in a position to welcome him back as your true friend one day if he can escape from the emotional shackles of the borg.

  In the meantime you can always come here and vent.

  here is the SE it has been really hot (well for us anyway).

  Last weekend it was between 29 and 31C indoors at night with all the windows open, and fans running to try and cool it a little, and we only live a couple of miles from the sea. No air movement at all. Very uncomfortable. During the day it was far too hot to do anything other than find a shady spot and stay there.

  I am sure those in the cities will have found it worse.

  Off course very few domestic dwelling have air con although other half has now installed a fan in the roof to draw the air through which is helping (I think).

  But we dont have time to acclimatise to the heat before it all changes here in the UK.

  True to our weather we had a thunderstorm, although brief, with torrential rain on Monday morning and now it is a bit cooler averaging 24-28C.

  So Gadget you were camping lucky you, we are booked to go for bank holiday week so I hope we dont get too much rain.

  Spending the first part on a farm with fishing and then going to a steam fair in dorset. All camping on basic sites. Where were you?

  Yes

  did it once to a young sister.

  Hated doing it and myself so much that I vowed that if I met her again I would go out of my way to speak to her.

  Have since caught up with her and her new family and we are in regular contact.

  these two ladies were standing there ... one was obviously an elder's wife ... say late 40s ... likely aux.

  Brilliant Amazing

  Thankyou for posting this.

  We have a pio bro call on us occasionally and have some reasonable discussions with him.

  You used some good reasoning especially the Adam and Eve etc and the compilation of the bible canon. We will try these as and when the situation allows.

  We always try to be gentle with him anyway. Anymore good points will be gratefully received.
