Is country music more approved than any other for a witness?
by wordlywife inmy husband has recently started listening almost exclusively to country.
occasionally we would listen to it before, but every time i get in a car he has driven or we are riding he has it on, when before we always had classic rock on.
i don't mind country music, but this recent change of listening habits in light of his having commenting priveledges back again makes me wonder if listening to anything but country is frowned upon by wt ordinances?

The only music that is not frowned upon is the Kingdom Melodies. Any other music is considered worldly.
I've actually been to JW parties as a teen where nothing but the Kingdom Melodies were played.
Holy Crap, and I thought my congregation was bad for stuff like that. I'll never complain about another JW party ever again.

sounds like a good deal, but the question is do you think it's worth it to sell your soul to the WTS for your education? In my experience, it's not a good thing to be completely dependent on your parents given your situation, because then they'll try to use that as a hold on you once you finally start moving towards your independance. I agree with the others who say look for other options at your school's guidance office and explain your situation completely. I would probably only take your parent's offer only as a last resort.
I'll pm you my email address, and if you have MSN or yahoo messenger if you ever feel the need to talk.

Where can I see a copy of the elder's manual? ("Pay Attention To...")
by AlmostAtheist inhey guys, .

I never understood why this book is a "secret". When I read it I was bored!!! I was like, this is it???
There is nothing really "secret" with the elder's manual. Most of the material in it comes straight from material printed in the WT over the years. The only useful thing it does is it compiles all that info form the WT into one quick reference book where you can find anything you need about how elders are supposed to handle situations within the congregation.

Would Your "Spirit-Directed Conscience"Have Made You Walk Out Of A Movie?
by Englishman inthis was a fairly frequent occurence amongst the brothers and sisters in my young dubby days.
i was heaved out of the cinema on more than one occasion, generally by my mother who reckoned some things were just too much for my innocent young eyes and ears.
i only half saw:.

by filip inmy parents have noticed my negative and sad attidude lately, whenever were going to the meetings or studying and so on.
but they just think that i am negative and sad in general.
i dont think they think that its spesifically because im being dragged to the meetings.. so lately we have had a lot of "serious" talks, because theyre worried for me.

filip,
This is really a tough call. On one hand like you said, your parents might just freak out and try to force you to do more for the "truth". On the other hand, the fact that they're asking might be a sign that they realize that no matter what they do, you might not want to be a jw, and they're ready to accept that possibility.
but what about now, where theyre actually asking me directly? As Jez said, its tearing me up inside to live a doublelife. Mentally I dont think I can handle the pressure much longer...
Although I was an adult when i told my mom I didn't want to be a jw anymore, I still felt the same things as you do. At the time I quit, I was still quite dependent on my parents, and I thought that it might be a possibility that I might get kicked out of the house. Towards the end of my stint as a JW, the same thing was happening to me as living the doublelife was starting to take it's toll on me, it came to a point where I couldn't handle it anymore. But my mom was also noticing a big change in my personality similar to the way your parents have noticed a change, and on many occasions, my mom asked me if I still wanted to be a jw. During those times, I lied and said yes out of fear and guilt.
The point is, at that time I made the decisions on what I thought was best for myself given the situation. I can't tell you what to do, especially in a situation like this. You know how your parents are, and when it comes to something like this, it's almost a wild guess as to how they're going to react. The only thing I can tell you, is to do what you perceive is best for yourself given your situation. Good luck figuring out what to do.

The Sith Lords is due out on PC next month! Knights of the Old Republic last year had one of the best plots of any game, and IMO, it was better than the last two movies. Has anybody played it on console yet? Does it really rock?
I can hardly wait.
Tammy
I've played it on console, and this one was much better than the last one. However the console version is very buggy, and experiences some severe framerate slowdowns in battles involving many enemies, or when using certain force powers (i.e. Force Storm) too much. Also, the game is very easy like the first one. If you liked the first one, you will love The Sith Lords.
