How can they take away a persons baptism? Isnt this in effect what they are doing when they think they can judge you are no longer a JW? I dont get it. Isnt this admitting to all that you are simply baptized into an organization and has nothing to do with baptism in the name of the father son and holy spirit?

New DF/DA Policy?
by new light inwould someone who has the new od book explain any changes in "keeping the congregation clean"?
is it still the same policy or have they actually changed anything?
i'd especially like to know if they are changing their tune on the "inactive".

Is the society shooting themselves in the foot with the new DF policy?
by truth_about_the_truth inlet's face it, it seems like a simplification of the df process as many of you have already mentioned.. within the 6 million or so jw worldwide, there has to be a good number of ppl that are on the fringes of being dfed.
in the past, it took time to technically df these ppl because of the no-shows at judicial hearings and appeals.
also dfing a person can be delayed when no actual proof can be provided of the sin committed.

I disagree with minimus in that there is no new policy on DFing. There clearly is a reason why the DF policy was specifically mentioned during the announcement of the book. Something has definitely changed. I guess time will tell exactly how it has changed but it does appear that it is easier to DF someone than in the past.
Was the new policy mentioned in all congs at the announcement of the book? Did they mention they were to be treated the same as a dfed person when the new anouncement was read at the release of the new OM book?

"Organized to do Jehovah's Will" - anybody get the book yet?
by ithinkisee ini'm heading out in a moment to the meeting.
just wondering if anyone had a chance to actually flip through the pages yet?
funny how the wt study for today is basically a "never question jehovah or his organization" and we get a new organization book.

Thank you IP Sec for clarifying that. Does anyone have the page number , or is the page number 154 and 155) . I want to be able to show some relatives the scoop. Does anyone have an actual scan of the pages in question?
Thanks,
Tor
I thought the new scoop on Dfing in the new book was that they now just say they are NO longer a jw instead. someone please clarify. Have they in fact changed it?
Its a non change except for the actual announcement.
OD 154-155
"[Name of Person] is no longer one of Jehovah's witnesses. This will alert faithful members of the congregation to stop associating with the person"
Its an addtion to the dub lexicon, No longer a witness= DF'd or DA'd. The book makes it plain that this status does not apply to inactive ppl.

Jesus die about 30 CE
by peacefulpete inthere is a geat amount of confusion among early christian trdaition as to when jesus died, some have said about 130 different opinions were held.
the nt doesn't help pin it down as the dating in luke doesn't work.
anyway the tradition that eventually won out was that jesus was baptised about 29/30 and killed 1-3 years later.. on another site someone speculated that it was jewish tradition that indirectly helped establish this timeline.

Why is there such a problem figuring out when Jesus was born if he was the savior of the world? Wouldn't you think that date would be set in stone?

Neo-Babylonian Chronology and the Egibi Business House
by VM44 ini am somewhat shocked right now, although i know i probably should not be, i will explain in this post later.. .
all this information is contained in carl olof jonsson's excellent book, the gentile times reconsidered, 4th edition, pages 122-125.. .
it turns out that throughout the neo-babylonian time frame, a business firm named the sons of egibi conducted business, and left some three or four thousand record tables contained in earthen jars covered with bitumen.. .
