  dantheman just turned me onto the thread that was started last jan over the borg's quantum shift in saying that it is now a matter of conscience as to whether a person can vote.

  i was really expecting them to say that the mechanism of voting is okay, but they went way, way beyond that.

  the subsequent posts on that thread were very insightful (as usual) but no one seemed to approach the concept of faith in this.

  The CO mentioned we are to remain separate from the world. If we were ordered to vote we could write Jesus CHrist on the ballot but we were not to vote for anyone running for office . I read the article you mention before I talked to CO and specifically asked him about the article and the above is what he told me.

  They speak from both sides of their mouth. I would have your mom ask an elder about and see what he says. I think the elders got some word of mouth communication about the article that is not in print for rank and file.

  this very wealthy lady has just lost her husband and is at the funeral home making arrangements to bury her husband.. "oh, and i don't want my husband buried in that blue suit he's wearing.

  you are invited to attend a conference of former jws october 21-24 at 1835 n. western in wenatchee wa 98801. this is an annual event organized by richard rawe and his associates.

  richard is the exjw who's story was portrayed in the "good faith" off broadway play.

  if you are like me the word conference conjures feeling associated the word convention.

  I believe Tom Cabeen wrote a dissertation on the shunning policy of the WTS and how unscriptural it was. It was a good read but its been some time since I read it.

  Do you feel you will always be "different" from the "world" ?

  all of my life,, except for the last two years i was a jw, and i wonder if i will always feel like i am still so very different from the rest of most everyone i know.

  i guess i still feel like i am on the "outside" looking in, in on the world of the people i was so alienated from for so long.. i celebrate birthdays, all the holidays, i stand for the national anthemn, but still it does not quiet feel second nature to me .

  as i stand watching my son play high school football, my mind is always wandering on the marvel of what i am seeing.

  i've not been too good at creating topics thus far, but for my 1000th post (in case you wouldn't notice .

  we often oppose reason (ratio) and belief, as if those were mutually exclusive.

  reason always works from presuppositions.
