well i finally have stopped to say hello.

i have been searching this site for a few months now and finding some interesting information, for now i am still a jw, confused as ever, feeling like my life is going to end and jehovah will take all the good in my life away by joining this forum.

i have so many concerns and as you all know have no one to talk to.

Hi Confused Girl, I hope you'll take the time and give yourself a break as the energy that we bring to the forum from being in the Kingdom Hall is like no other energy on the planet, good, bad and or indifferent.

You are among a loving and caring population of people, many with issues, such as we had while still in the Hall, but we are better as we have gotten thru some of the grit and the grime of several core issues that have haunted many of us.

I think in 6 months you'll feel more at ease with us and yourself, as you come to realise that we are just human, first, and you can go from there. I've said too much as it is but please look around and make yourself comfortable. You may be able to find a greater love here, than you would have ever had while in the Kingdom Hall.

Love here comes at expense of no one but ourselves, it's given freely however to those who truly need it.

Re-Introducing Myself / Hello All !!!

this is presented as a means of re-introducing myself to the community.

as time takes its toll and as new ones come in at almost a daily rate, it can be a little difficult for some to know, or get to know you.

as a hope of allowing one of our new members to be better acquainted with me, i presented this as a pm, however, after giving it an overveiw while looking to see if it was read, and it was not, i decided to put it before the entire community, that maybe this pm should be regarded as not so private.

As a hope of allowing one of our new members to be better acquainted with me, I presented this as a PM, however, after giving it an overveiw while looking to see if it was read, and it was not, I decided to put it before the entire community, that maybe this PM should be regarded as not so private. At any rate, what follows is a brief introduction for a new member, but a re-acquaitance for the rest of the community. Thank You for allowing me to share.

I have been a JW for about 18 months. Though I've been around the truth since a teenager. I was finally baptized at around 33, and shared a brief stint of time as a baptized brother.

I walked away from the Truth after not being able to maitain the teachings in my life in the organization. I left mostly on account of the wrong that I did as a witness.

During my days of struggle outside of the organization, I became homeless, living on the streets of Philadelphia, and in a constant desperate search for some kind of meaning in my life, as I had always associated Jehovah's Witnesses as the only true religion on earth.

Spending time in a recovery and addictions hospital for psychiatric and drug related issues, I'd come into contact with recovery principles thru AA & NA as well as came into contact with folks who had an enormous amount of grace or mercy as it's described in the Kingdom Hall associated with their lives and was able to reach beyond the unfortunate belief that we as witnesses would cling to, that we were the only ones who knew God or could ever have any contact with God, that everyone else was wrong and we were right.

During these days, I had the opportunity to see God in other people, other situations that would not normally be associated with God's trying to show me something. I met the woman who one day would come to be my wife, and had one of the most profound of connections come as a result of my stepping away from our limited reasoning.

I've studied several books that deal with spirituality as opposed to religion and had come to realize that although I had a good foundation regarding the scriptural knowledge made available thru the Kingdom Hall, I was and would continue to be a spiritual infant as long as I remained there with the hellish limitations that we in the Hall would place upon those who did not believe as we do.

Much of my awakening happened as a result of reading M. Scott Peck's books on spirituality, The Road Less Traveled as well as several others that he has written. They were the begining of my journey into things that would help me to grow by leaps and bounds.

Grace or mercy has been shown to me in so many ways, and I actually associate the largest amount of grace in finding the forum JWD. I thought my life was technically over before finding this site, but when I did, and I found out how wrong we as Jehovah's Witnesses had been indoctrinated, how much of the history that goes un-noticed or un-mentioned, I'd received the greatest awakening that I could have asked for. I came to the realization that maybe there was hope for those who leave the WTBTS, maybe I could find happiness in my life, even after Jehovah.
And my life began to take on new meaning. I don't believe any longer that the WTBTS has God in their back pocket. That they even have a monopoly on God at all. Nor do I believe that there are those who do not have grace associated with their lives who are not even Christian, but grace does follow segments of society that have nothing to do with religion in itself, but also that grace belongs to those who are Muslim, Buhddiist, Shinto and every slice of mankind, regardless for their religious persuassion.

With what I know as a Jehovah's Witness, combined with my behaviour over the years, technically I should have been dead years ago. For whatever reason however, my life has not only been spared up to now, but has actually flourished beyond my own and my families comprehension. No one became a witness but me, but my getting there was a long dramatic and drawn out process, only to come to the conclusion that there would be even more to the story. God has blessed me, even in my foolishness, even when I should have been killed years ago, and my being here, for me, is somehow evidence that God has use for the once thought of eternal sinner.

I know deep in my heart that I'll never set foot in a Kingdom Hall again ever, but my life still has evidence of God's grace or mercy attatched to it, and now that I'm no longer a practicing Jehovah's Witness, there often seem as if there's even more grace in my life.

My 8 Foot R/c Plane...

i know, i know... it's just another big toy... but this rocks!.

it's made of pink foam (it will be covered in black monocote when finished with flames on the wingtips), and the wingspan is 8 whole feet.

most of the electronics are in there apart from the motor, which shipment was delayed on.

SOME" peoples lives are associated with GRACE?

Yes, some people. Jehovah's Witnesses were not meant to be thought of as mutually exclusive, some refer to people in general, and it actually has nothing to do with ones faith, race, religion, or even a political party, it includes every kind of people.

I could never understand why God would intervene for your alternator when he would not for my sister, or the other families I know who have lost there only children in car accidents, or to cancer.

I can only reduce it to a state of grace and somehow being at the right place at the right time, much like synchronicity, not luck mind you...as luck is associated with blind random chance.

I cannot account for why bad things happen to good people, but I've come to the realisation that some peoples lives are associated with grace, being in tune to the energy of the material as well as the spiritual worlds that make up the substance of our lives, and a benevolent Higher Power.

It's not as if my life is some kind of magical mystery tour, as it were, with all kinds of wonderful things happening in it because it's not. There's suffering enough that exist in my world as well, although not to the degree as personally having cancer, or having a child of mine to die, we all suffer uniquely in different ways.

One day suffering will more readily visit me in it's own format as well, be it on account of myself acquiring some disease or malady, by losing my loved ones in death or maybe even my own life as I have a medical condition which can cause me to lose my life at the hour of sleep.

I just can't answer for what I've not experienced. I don't, however, think that God is an uncaring entity who's as an absentee landlord as he would have to go around and miraculously save any and everyone whoever walks on the earth from harm, as if a genie or even Superman, and where would his measure of saving come to an end?

I don't know why God allowed the victims of the destruction of the World Trade Center to suffer, the Tsunami tragedy, 6,000,000 slaughtered by the Nazi's at the hands of Adolph Hitler, not to mention Mussolini, Jim Jones, Jessie James and you could go on forever to the begining of time. Suffering and evil has and always will on this side of heaven, exist in one form or another, and I'm not making light of your sufferings by no means, because no ones trouble is as great as the one to which it belongs to.

All our troubles are significant in our own way, and unfortunately for some, it worse than others. I however still believe in God's Justice and more importantly, His mercy, which can show up at the most inopportune time. For many of us, it didn't come soon enough, but how we suffer is more important in this world, than why. For me personally, its the learning everyday, how to suffer my troubles correctly, to find a means to get beyond it, that I might continue with the business of living.

Yes I do!!! God has a way of showing up in my life daily, sometimes it's blatantly obvious, other times it's me being oblivious to the blatantly obvious, but I find him there at the end of the day, nevertheless

Have you ever had a physical ailment that you prayed specifically that God would heal that ailment? Did He heal it?
He made it possible for me get the problem fixed, it took time but when the healing came, there was no question asto His being responsible for it .

If your vehicle that you go to work in kept breaking down , Would you pray that God would fix the problem or that He would supply you with a way to work? Did He?
He made a way when the MarkVIII was ready to be stranded with a faulty alternator, just 3 weeks ago. The Auto Zone was within reach, and when I was going to take a different route, doing something completely different than what I'd originally intended, I found that by listening to that small voice behind my head, by following my first mind and doing otherwise, that it made all the difference in the world regarding my being able to be in the right place at the right time . The alternator was replaced, despite my having to wait for it to come from another store. God's grace has a way of working itself out in my life, and that is all I need to get through!!!

one more,, Have you ever spent more than 15 minutes Just Praising God , Not asking anything Just Praising Him for who he is?
The only thing I ask of God now is that he lead me in the direction that he would have me go that I may be able to do the things that he would have me do. I thank God Always, I never take a moment in this life for granted, as we could all be a memory tomorrow. Many who woke up this morning will not awaken tomorrow, and some who are awake right now will be prematurely put to sleep, forever on this side of Heaven. Tomorrow is not promised to any of us, and everyday, despite the pain and suffering, it's a good thing to be alive, and for this I am eternally grateful.
