The idea that the majority of mankind who achieve everlasting life will have it here on Earth makes plenty of sense. The idea that only 144,000 enjoy immortality in Heaven is a more speculative proposition. The number could be symbolic or maybe it is literal but either way I don't think it matters .

144000 does it make sense?
by scrubmaster ini wish we there was a search function on this board, i am sure this topic has been addressed.
but when and if you believe in the bible would it make since that there was less then a 144,000 anointed christians in the early christians times.
i mean the bible states the whole world at the time had been filled with the the teachings of the christians.

Do you think that the WTS is going to "collapse" and there will be no JW's?
by booker-t indo you think that there will come a time when the wts will be a thing of the past and people will look into their history books and say "oh yeah those jw's were around for over 120 years and now they are no longer around today in the year 20___?
" my friend thinks that jw's will not collapse and will probably get "stronger" with time.
i hope not because i am just sick of the whole wts and jw's religion.

After the Great Tribulation and Armageddon the WTS will no longer exist. In this system they'll continue but IMO steadily growing weaker.

What is a "known child molester?"
by truthsetsonefree inreferring to the press release mentioned at http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/112393/1.ashx, it should be noted that wt is a corporation, with attorneys looking to cover themselves and their employer.
it is noteworthy then to consider what wt defines as a 'known child molester' as it is one classified as such who cannot hold a responsible position in the congregation.. letter to elders march 14, 1997: "who is a known child molester?
the january 1, 1997, watchtower article "let us abhor what is wicked" mentions on page 29 that a man "known to have been a child molester" would not qualify for privileges in the congregation.

The term "known Child Molester" has confused me too. I've always thought of it meaning someone who is prone to molest children. This explanation of "known" helps me to understand what happened to a brother in a congregation I used to attend. This brother was involved in a situation where a young 12-year-old girl climbed into bed with him while he was drunk. The girl did this out of all innocence but the brother wound up putting his hands on her. There was no actual sexual contact or fondling however. The brother confessed his sin to the elders and they took no action against him. Later the police fond out about the incident and the brother was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor crime. He confessed his guilt and mentioned he was a JW. He wound up paying a fine and served some probation time. When the elders in our congregation found out he had confessed and also mentioned to the police that he was a JW he was blackballed. They told him his changed-status was due to him being a "known child molester". I always felt that this brother got a raw deal from the elders. He was not in my opinion a "known child molester ", he was a man who had made a serious mistake and honestly admitted it and as far as I know never repeated it.

Rick McClean - JW Child Molestor
by FairMind inseveral weeks back, someone posted on this forum that "america's most wanted" would air a piece on april 15th regarding rick mcclean.
i watched the show last night and he was not mentioned.
does anyone know if he has been caught, which would explain why they did not do a piece on this man or if there is another reason?

Watchtower Promotes Creationism and Contradicts Itself!!!
by SickofLies inhttp://www.watchtower.org/library/g/2004/6/22/article_01.htm
charles darwin's theory of evolution has been prevalent for a century and a half.
some educated people may have expected that by now, belief in god would be banished to the realm of the ignorant, the gullible, and the naive.

What happens if a JW refers to this "understanding" which was never denied since then?
I believe he'll be corrected as to the "new light understanding" which allows the creation process to be of an indefinate lenght, even perhaps billions of years. If he refuses to recant of his old WT beliefs he might just be DF'd for apostasy. "If you don't move ahead with Jehovah's Organization you'll be left at the station."

Proponents of intelligent design do not stake any obviously foolish claims? HA!!! Perhaps they missed the ball on this one but proponents of ID also believe in a literal 6 days of creation for the earth and the univerise, an idea the WTS rejects!
I am a proponent of Intelligent Design and I don't believe that the earth and all its' life was created in six literal days. So, your statement is dogmatically incorrect.

When is Satan thrown out of heaven?
by M.J. in.
the jws, of course, claim this occurred in 1914, thus making the way for the new heavenly order with christ (michael) having won the battle and taking his place on the throne.. but what does revelation itself suggest as the timeframe for this battle?.
doesn't the society's version suggest that heaven was out of control until then--kind of like another earth?

If Satan wasn't kicked out of heaven until 1914, what was he doing on earth in a snakesuit tempting Eve several milleniums before?
The explanation (WTS version) isn't that Satan did not have access to the earth prior to 1914 but that after 1914 he is confined to the sphere of the earth with absolutely no influence in heaven.

KH construction in Mexico
by flag ini recently went to mexico for vacation and my sister in law told me that they were constructing a new kh.. i questioned her on how was it done, and this is what she told me:.
they saved the money for long time, then they sent the money to the wt.. wt then bought the land and the materials (but everyting is under wt name).
all brothers and sisters will work for free.. after everything is completed they still have to pay a "suggested contribution" to the wt for the use of the kh.. i think the law in mexico recently changed and now the wt can own property that is why they are pretty active building kh's.

Ironic hypocrisy of Bethel "service"
by MinisterAmos ini normally let people make their own decisions with a very hands off approach, but after reading the "living together in bethel" (or whatever the name of the piece of crap book is) i need to vent a bit.. anyone here is very familiar with the "quit your job or at least cut way back" talks that we were subjected to seemingly every other week.
after all, good dubz need time to prepare, attend, pioneer etc.
a good friend of mine left her job at an insurance co. to pioneer.

MinisterAmos, I certainly appreciate your post. Your post was very refreshing in the way it pointed out WTS hypocrisy and the way they have damaged people. I also enjoyed the posts of the rest of this crew, especially those who shared the Bethel experienced views. Thank you.
