Why do witnesses HAVE to use only hotels on the list for the conventions?

does anyone know the answer to this?.

a while back i read that the society gets free rooms for its convention speakers if they agree to fill so many rooms in a hotel with dubs, but is there anything more involved?.

Remember the slogan ?United We Stand, Divided We Fall?? This is most likely the WTS? viewpoint with regard to why JWs should only use the accommodations on the approved list. A united group has greater bargaining leverage for not only prices but for getting the hotels/motels to ensure that a specific number of rooms will be available for those attending the convention or assembly. Of course an individual JW can stay wherever they please but this weakens the WTS? bargaining position, thus JWs are strongly urged to use only the accommodations on the list. It is all about doing things in a businesslike cost-efficient way.

Does the average JW REALLY and TRULY want to see Armageddon come?

what percentage of jw's do you think would be happy to wake up tomorrow and honestly see all the people dying and everything else that goes along with armageddon as they've been taught?.

on the other hand, how many use the religion/belief as a way to feel superior to others and would never really want to see all that suffering or perhaps just wouldn't want to do the clean-up work after?

i guess a third question is warranted, based on their teachings...... how many hope they die a natural death and will be resurrected after all the nasty sh*t goes down?

Of course Armageddon is coming and so is the Great tribulation! They'll come when God is ready and not until then. Of course believing they are coming and looking forward to it are two separate issues. I think that sub-coconsciously most JWs don't believe it will happen any time soon. They may say they believe we are on the brink but most don't really live as if they believe it

The Watchtower: Sincere Old Men or Deliberate Deceivers?

Believe it or not the Bible actually speaks of men who not only would lie but also would believe their own lies.

2 nd Thessalonians 2:11,12 – “So that is why God lets an operation of error go to them, that they may get to believing the lie. In order that they all may be judged because they did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in unrighteousness.

Verse 9 links those spoken of in the above quoted verses to the presence of the lawless one and to Satan (interesting huh?).

I know the feeling! Wanting revenge gives purpose to life. Some people deserve to be revealed as the hypocrites they are. If you can accomplish it without getting caught and without breaking the law then why not go for it.

I didn't know this was only an "EX-JW" site like Gumby says. I thought this forum was for anyone wanting to make JW related comments. Ex-JWs benefit from the mutual support this site provides but active JWs with doubts and legitimate concerns benefit as well. Don't discourage active JWS from coming here and learning that their negative JW experiences are not unique and from learning the truth about the WTS. Thank you very much!

Neither Jehovah or Jesus are to blame for what the WTS does. I believe the WTS like all other religions that misrepresent God are accountable to him in a major way.

Purporting to be witnesses...

i had a conversation with a friend who still goes to meetings, on the subject of websites of people pretending to be witnesses in order to draw witnesses away from the 'truth'.. i suggested she looks here.. i said she should ask herself why the wt would be trying to keep people away from information.i also talked about the u.n./wts thing.. so if you're looking, welcome , and i hope you are helped by this.. a hot meat pie.

Would You Tell The Local Press If You Were Summoned Before A JC?

Who cares if the JWs are right?

this is by no means an original idea, but even if the jws have been right all along, i don't care.

if pleasing god means not knowing what to think or feel without checking with headquarters first, then i don't need him.

who would want to be caught up in an eternal nightmare where the entire population was a braindead mass of clean-cut yes men?

If they were right I would care but since they aren't I dont care. I guess that is why I don't care about what is taught by organized religion. I docare about what the Bible teaches, especially the things about love and.

great tribulation or no great tribulation that is my question

so, what's the deal?

are witnesses now expecting a tribulation to precede armageddon or are they expecting armageddon without a tribulation?.

because in the last couple of years some of the things i am hearing and reading, lead me to believe they are phasing out the concept of a tribulation.

The Great Tribulation began in the fall of 1973 and ended with Armegeddon in the summer of 1975. I know this new system isn't what people expected but at least we know we won't have to die!
