That the most important thing according to the WTS is spirituality, spiritual qualifications, yet gender makes women unqualified to be elders, MS, COs, DOs, even mike handlers in spite of their spiritual qualifications that "transcend gender."
I never bought the not being able to handle mics thing. Or help with literature or sound. Perhaps they can make a case about women not teaching men if they pull the right scriptures out of the hat..but for other "privileges" there is really no justification for their position. Other than men simply wanting to keep the women in their "place".

Once someone is having minor doubts I make sure I help supply more points for them to think about so the doubts grow. It helps if they see contradictions in their life for themselves first. I think most dubs worry you are trying to convert them to your religion, I always try to show that I just want them to have all the facts so they can make an informed decision for themselves.

As ex JW's purge the WTS's BS they come into contact with family and friends who may be Duds or know Duds. Ex JW's then 'infect' these contacts and thus the infection grows. We are better at witnessing against the J-dud Masters because ours is a message the people WANT to hear and can relate to! Many people have horror stories about JW family, workmates or neighbors. I have heard all kinds of stuff and when I tell these folks about the WTS policy that promoted the Duds behavior these people then understand what a mess the J-duds are!
That's definitely true. I know all my friends who know what I've gone through would never even consider becoming dubs and would fight tooth and nail against anyone they know who wants to become one. I even have friends who come to me for information on de-programming dubs that they know.

I don't really want to undercut the Bible at this point since I think he still might have a bit of his support from there. I want to under cut the Armageddon teachings, the major WTS beliefs, and the society itself. I'm not sure we want to touch on the pedophile issue, it was too well whitewashed here, something he should discover after he has already concluded they are not a "spirit appointed organization". Maybe something on the unscriptural change of the baptism vows and disassociation not being scriptural, disfellowshipping and judicial committess, etc. Just ideas give me more!

IOW... the author is not really claiming that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality. He's claiming, essentially, that you can believe that the Bible is wrong, and still be a Christian.
Well a point I saw made was that Paul writes all scipture is inspired of God. At the time his letters and writings were just that, letters and writings, not scripture. He makes no claim to be inspired, contrary to what many Christians believe and teach. Therefore his letters are not necessarily infallible, a belief held about the bible in general. He also condones slavery, something that most Christians today do not condone. It's an example of Christians changing with the times. Much the same way today, homosexuality is not held to be a choice like it perhaps was then, it is also not generally connected to false religious worship as it was in Biblical times and societies.
I don't think the OT should ever enter into this, ONLY the NT. Jesus came to replace the law. Some of the things in the OT are so ridiculous that if we all had to follow them no one would be "saved". Yet people are quick to point to sciptures that seemingly condemn homosexuality, completely pulling them out of context and ignoring the rest of the law.
That being said I make no claim to being Christian nor to having a monopoly on Bible understanding. Believe what you will.

No they are just talking about a tree being fashioned into a wooden idol. It's worked with the axe of a craftsmen, not merely cut down. That implies that it was carved into something. Idols were often plated with precious metals and adorned with gems, you have to remeber at this point while it's made out of wood it's no longer a tree.

i assume that the offer is the same in other countries.. i think it really shows how the wts doesn't have respect even for its own version of truth.
the "live forever" supports the old theology of the "generations", which has being removed since 1995. they should at least destroy these books which teach what they don't even believe, but they seem to be interested in getting same money for them.
Even as a kid I understood that there were some weird teachings in the old books. Which was why I could never understand it when mom was trying to get me to go through old books and volumes and read them. When I asked her she said they were "still good".
My guess is they need as many different "hooks" to try and lure people in as they can.

All this christian stuff is hard to take. I wonder how many of us here are totally turned off by reading such stuff? It just reaffirms my desire to keep religion out of my life.
I said it just the other day, the more my Christian friend tries to talk to me about her beliefs the more it convinces me I want nothing to do with them. In that way she did me more of a favor than anything else she could have done. And when she says she feels sorry for me or prays for me to change..I just find it laughable.
