about a month and a bit ago, there were rumours floating around here that 2034 or 2036 was the new wts date for armageddon.
is this true or false?
if true, is there a source?
??? but if you add the fall of Jerusalem, and then add a gentile time and a half ubtracted the rise of Christendom and the birth of constantine....don't you get 2004 March 15 !!!!!!!...OH CRAP
Nadsam,,,your friendly neighborhood APOSTATE !
keep in mind i was never a jw.
in christendom's churches, i am used to the breaking of the bread and the wine; crackers or loaf, chalice or teeny plastic cups, grape juice or the real thing.
i squeeze my eyes shut and imagine the sacrifice jesus made for us; consider his body for a moment, both the one he sacrificed, plus my fellow church members, also part of his body.
Years ago I made comment about a "submarine" surfacing at the memborial that was overheard by a inactive couple...Later that evening I served the wine and the persons looked up at me from the audiance and I noticed I had seriously hurt their feelings...needless to say they are now very active and I'm now the local apostate.
It bothered me a long time that I was one of them.."JW Snobs" and may have stumbled them !
Instead it made them more committed???
WHAT HAVE I DONE!!!

Its sad looking back and thinking of the few JW funerals I attended and remembering all the departed's loved ones being suckered into believing that soon (like very soon,, as the talk would sugar coat it) the would see them in paradise. This did not really help them grieve properly because they went on to believe that the person was coming back soon almost as if he had just left on vacation.

elders are supposed to maintain confidentiality.
if they don't, they can be deleted as elders.
still, one of the biggest complaints that i can recall from some in the congregation, was that elder so-and-so told his wife or another ms that someone had a problem or had to be counseled.....did it ever happen to you?
two days before the "big announcement" at the hall after my JC (3 days prior)..I told everyone that I had told the elders to go and get @#$%$# and then @#$% and #$%&^%$ ...(out of breath) . If I had known that they would talk would I still told them to %%$#@...some more...of course.
Nadsam !
(washing mouth out with soap now, calming down with an ice bag on my head, asking wife for paper bag....)
it's been awhile since i've been on here.
due to death in the family, chicken pox in children and other nasty things.. i posted here awhile ago about things i had found the unsettled me.
i was due to have a visit from two elders and a lot of you gave me lots of help and encouragement.. well, the two elders visited and i have to admit that it was nothing like i expected.. they sat down, and told me straight away that there was nothing i could say or ask that would hurt me.
Hi, I would just like to put another spin on your predicamint and ask you to think of the following as something more than the almost technical scriptural versus WT analysis route. You no doubt reached this point due to that nagging doubt you have and would feel justified leaving if the technical "word" was evidence enough.
In making my point, please consider what "real" freedom from the WT means :
You can never have freedom living in a state of fear of reprisal or punishment for basic human rights.
Please try to look beyond the trap of the technical scripture approach versus the WT back up doctrine plan etc. In most courts of law, lawyers can battle for days or months on the technicality of a word...in your case it can be easier. Look at what the WT has done to your life and the lives of countless others. They have created a state fo fear like the middle ages , even worse the dark ages where everyone who doesn't agree will be burnt at the stake !
Make a clean start by making a clean break. You'll never look back .....and if you do it will no doubt be to want to help those trapped in the same "quick sand" you were in.. and also to thank those on forums like these that helped you see that there was more to life than service and slavery.
I hope that in trying to find the "evidence" for leaving you will please consider the overwhelming "opportunities" that await you.
Nadsam.
it's so hard to choose, but i would have to say the theocratic ministry school was my most hated meeting.
the first few talks were a rephrasing of mind-numbing society doctrine.
then it was time to listen to a ten-year old read nwt to us........... #3 talks, don't even get me started!
What about Boring the "Pioneers with the Circuit Overseer" Saturday Afternoon meeting....there you saw the Pioneers kiss ass if they badly wanted to get into Bethel....my all time low point meeting was Saturday Morning Streetwork meeting...this was an embarrissing public meeting on a corner infront of everyone in town !!!!!!!!!!.
One day a guy did some impromptu praying (he was asked not to again though)..however about two weeks later he just went ahead and did one of those sunday public talk prayers that last about 15 minutes there on the street. I nearly died standing there. I cringe today thinking we must have looked like those crackpots who wore sandwich boards and shouted "religion is a snare and a racket"
Even worse was the Bethel Watchtower study meetings on Monday night...major boring with prepared answers that were pompous and lasting almost as long as those awful long prayers.
I do agree with stillajwexelder that Elders meetings were probably the most pathetic. The first time you attend you expect to hear "secret dealings of the borg" thingy's however all it is , is a bunch of uneducated self righteous poops sucking up to each other, trying to interpret the bible and run peoples lives using their little green "shepard the flock" manual.
All I can say about the above meetings is..."what a waste of time"!!
Lurkers get out now , today , out of that cult boring borg..please
