I hadn't heard about this in CoC. Did Ray actually append this statement in the latest version of the book?

There is nothing of significance with the year 2014 officially. Although, many people in the world celebrate and mark special anniversaries on centennial long dates. Many news articles will speak about such-and-such happening 100 years ago on "this" date. It is simply a way of easily remembering some event that took place many years ago.
Now with 1914, seeing that it is soooooo closely tied to "biblical prophecy," it will probably be a mentally grievous year once we reach 2014 for the witnesses. So many JW's up to that point have looked forward to the earth's destruction in their lifetime that when 2014 hits and armageddon has not happened yet, they will start to feel let down. Many are already feeling that way now, but it will probably be even more so in another 9 years.

i can't remember it word for word but the gist is: .
BluesBrother mentioned it in a thread. This is a business. And where there is no money, cuts must be made. Why not just have the publishers shuttle the CO around to where he needs to go? Most pubs drive their own cars in service anyways right? Unofficially ask the wealthy ones to donate a car. No doubt the WTS is its own insurance agency. Why pay another company free money when they can take care of any problems in-house on their own dime? Anyone care to take a peek inside the CO's glovebox to see what name is on the insurance card while you are out in service with him? No doubt even a "worldly" insurance agency probably gives HUGE discounts to full-time "clergy" members.
We shall see even more cutbacks in this area. If the money does not appear, we will probably hear of CO positions being eliminated. Or even the circuit areas expanding leaving redundancies. Hell, why not just make the City Overseers the CO's for their areas?
The WTS has many options.
i know a lot of young people leave the 'truth'.
but i would never have thought that so many of us with 20, 30, 40 years in would be leaving.
what do you think accounts for that?

I was in for 30 years and I would say that the internet helped my release. For years I had questions on several doctrines but knew well enough not to push for an explanation on them because of my nature. I am the type that doesn't just accept a plain answer. I need to know the entire in's-and-out's of the answer. The internet helped me see mutiple viewpoints, both for and against, which allowed me to make a decision based on the facts, not emotions. Speaking out finally got the best of me.

That sounds like the right schedule Blondie. I thought I might have been off just a little. Amazing what happens to your memory when you don't go to a meeting in a couple years.
I never realized it was in print. That explains it. So yes, the CO would never think about changing several hundred people's schedules around just to fit his needs. If it is in print from the Society as shown above, then it is just the same as Jehovah telling the r&f IT WILL BE DONE and they won't ask questions.

The schedule nowadays is:
Tuesday night at the KH --- Entire congregation has abbreviated bookstudy(no reading, just questions) followed by a 30 minute talk by CO.
Thursday night at the KH --- Normal school parts followed by a 45 minute thrashing by the CO telling the congo that they suck and need to do more.
Sunday --- Public talk by the CO. Abbreviated WT study(no reading, just questions) followed by 30 minutes worth of experiences from around the world and the "thanks for the lovely free meals" routine.

So there is no real reason other than him keeping the same schedule throughout the year? I still find it pretty selfish of the CO to not bend to the congregation's normal schedule.

I was going to ask if you were df'd for "immorality" because most women would probably feel embarassed when questioned by three men in a private setting about the most detailed and intimate moments that you spent in the bedroom. Let me guess, did they ask specific questions about orgasms, how many, how long, etc? I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of them had their hand deep down in their pocket playing pool...

Now here comes da man on his bi-yearly visit. All of a sudden, every congregation that meets at the hall needs to rearrange their normal meeting times. What used to be your bookstudy on Monday is now on Tuesday. What used to be your Service Meeting on Wednesday is now on Thursday. Not to mention the other congregations having to switch their schedules to Mon-Wed now too!
Why couldn't the CO adjust his schedule to fit the congregation's? 700+ people(we had 4 congos with almost 200 in each) would have to adjust their schedule, but not him? This is what always got to me, even when I was a hardcore jdub.
So what's with the Tue-Thur lineup? Why is it so damn important to shuffle hundreds of people around to fit one man's schedule? I thought it would be the other way around?
