I've never been part of those congregations, but I did know someone who moved to Hemet many years ago....not sure if he was an active JW there or not. Does the name Shane Johnson ring any bells?

A tribute to Moose
by cruzanheart inour basset hound moose died this morning.
he was only 2 1/2 years old but he had addison's disease.
something caused internal bleeding and he went very quickly, which was merciful.

I remember when you first got Moose and shared his pics....I'm a sucker for a hound dog and showed his pics to my friends here at work who all thought he was just adorable. I lost my beagle this summer due to a liver problem, so I can understand your loss. There's nothing like the begging eyes of a hound dog.......or the great carpet cleaning actions. :-) I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

I put my dear old dog to sleep
by Jez inafter 2 months of old age and illness, 2 cancelled vet appts, hoping he would get better, tears, frustration, watching him not eat, throwing up, becoming skin and bones, justifying keeping him, i stuck to this morning's appointment.. he was with me for the last 12 years of my life and his life has been entwined in so many of the memories i have.. to tell you about him, would be an essay.
i just want everyone to know that he was so close to me.
in the end, i kissed him on his head, said, "good boy, you're a good boy" and he laid his head on my hands and went to sleep.. i love you and will miss your crazy dog ways.

I know how you feel as I had to put down my furry little boy (beagle) this past July and while it was one of the hardest things I've ever done, I knew it was for the best as he was suffering. I held him in arms and conforted and spoke with him, just like you did. They are part of the family and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, as it will take time to heal.

So, do you recall the Collin's girls? Patti and Deb. They were in that congo [I believe] before one married my cousin and the other my brother. Nathan Kline performed my bro's wedding 9 years ago - my bro has died since, and Deb has turned into a real b.... uhm, bad person toward me and the wife since we left the borg.
Jeff
Actually, I remember them (though vaguely). I think that my ex and I let one of the girls use some of our silk flowers from our wedding for something for hers....but, I don't remember details....I just remember my ex wanting "his flowers" back and never getting them. LOL Sorry to hear about your brother. I haven't heard from Nathan & Cindy for years....I've written, but I think once news hit that I was inactive, I didn't hear back from them. I still keep in touch with some other friends of mine, who apparently don't care that I am inactive, because they drove 2 hours to come to my daughter's school musical this past weekend. Those kind of friends are rare, especially in Dubdom. Of course, if I were DF'd or DA'd, they'd not do that, but at least it is nice that they still keep in touch given the situation.

My dad is Steve Jackson, him and I left in the early 90's.

I do remember the names, but can't place more than that.....but I do remember the names.

I was good friends with the Kleines...Glen & Delo & the kids. I was in their son Nathan's wedding. Irvington was dissolved before I moved and my place was then assigned to Christian Park congregation, but I moved up to College Park area, but I missed my friends on the Eastside, so I moved back to the KH on 21st & Shadeland again, but my congregation has a new name and I'll be darned if I can think of it. Didn't the Sparks go to Raymond Park? Yes, I knew the Needhams, too.....went some some fun Euchre parties at their place. Did you know Kevin & Cathy McAtee or Carl Bredensteiner?

I am no longer in Indiana.....now East Central Illinois, but from 1988 - 1992 I lived in Indianapolis. Primarily the East side (Irvington area). Familiar with that area? Were you in Indy? I know there are others here who are from the Indy area, as there has been threads about it and discussions of people we all knew, etc., but I'll let them ID themselves. :-)

This year I dressed as a hippie......anything to where jeans to work, I told my boss. It's cold, but I have on my sandals, jeans, a 60's looking caftan shirt, a peace sign necklace and earrings, and those funny small rectangle sunglasses. I used to have a long blonde wig, but couldn't find it, so I wore my hubby's afro wig. I've had so many laughs from this today. The people at the lunch place I go to often saw me coming and were laughing.....especially when they recognized that it was me.
We had quite a few dress up here. My favorite was this one lady dressed like Napoleon Dynamite.....with the wig, glasses, "Vote for Pedro" shirt....and to top it off, a baggie with tater tots. At my daughter's school, they got to dress up yesterday AND today. Yesterday she wore her Moulin Rouge can-can dancer outfit........spent most of the day explaining that she was NOT a french 'ho. lol Today she and a friend are going as Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.....my daughter is taller and wearing heels and was going to a blanket, with a baby no one will be allowed to see....and "tom" is going to wear a t-shirt that says "I love Scientology" on the front and "I hate Zoloft" on the back and plans to jump on desks and chairs throughout the day. I can't wait to hear their stories.
I sure love Halloween and dressing up!!!!

Depending on where you live, voter registrations can be available as public information. In fact, in the county where I live you can do a search online and find if someone is a registered voter. However, in larger metropolitan areas, that information is held more private and cannot be searched online unless you have the person's Social Security Number or some areas do not make it available online at all (tried it). But if someone were on true mission, they might be able to find or confirm the information via other routes. But, unless you were seen by JWs going into or coming out of a polling place on election day, I doubt that anyone would be ambitious enough to try to search out your voter registration status.

Trick or treat
by katiekitten inor as its known in england "give us yer stuff or we'll egg you".. it really isnt the cozy friendly 'kids get dressed up and chat to all the neighbours nicely' that it is portrayed on american tv (remember the et scene?).
i know you guys across the pond love haloween but imo its awful here.
youth crime goes up by 20% in the uk around haloween.. our version is way more menacing.

That's awful. I think I would probably dislike it, too, if it were just an excuse for vandalism like that. Is it like that in all parts of England, or just certain areas or cities?
My cousin-in-law moved to Melbourne, Australia, in August and she says that Aussies don't do Halloween. Is that true? That is her favorite holiday and her little girl's (2nd) birthday, so since they weren't in the States for the birthday, she was at least looking forward to taking her Trick or Treating. Are their similar problems Down Under?
