i worked at the hq for a few years in the 90's and i've personally known and met several influential bethelites during my time there.
these are brothers that have been there 20-30-40+ years and hold various degrees of authority within the org.
looking back and thinking about these ppl, i can't help but comment how out of touch these people were.
I hope this self-centered, compartmentalized ideology will eventually lead to their downfall. Maybe it already has??!!Can you feel the gap getting wider between their reality and ours?

i just read from the quotes website that the wts discourages people to play chess!
i never knew that!lol they compare it to actual war and say it can make one competitive and aggresive.

Dave...In Canada this is the way I THINK it will work. Just before the trial the WT lawyers will ask for delays and ask Quotes to supply more information...documents whatever. (money) They might also ask for delays so they can talk with more of their "legal experts" (money) They will try to run the bill up as high as they can before the trial starts.
Then they will approach "Quotes" privately and offer a deal that they will not proceed (and bankrupt him) if he will kill the website.
It will be a hell of a choice to have to make and it is a hard road he has set out on. Having said that I WILL be here for him both as supporter and with with my cheque book.

i can't think of many benefits of growing up a a dub but i do remember that i always viewed the other dub kids as brorthers and sisters and they became my support system amongst the "worldly people".
i remember going into a new neighhood or a new school and knowing that once i met the dub kids there, i would automatically have friends and i would not be alone.. this was especially comforting to me because i was an only child, and many times i entered into a new school not knowing anyone and sometimes being the only black kid in the class, my dub peers made me feel welcome and accepted me into the circle immediately.. for many years i feel special to be part of this worldwide brotherhood, and i am sure it is the reason why now i am inafriad of changes and/or new surroundings.. did you have similar experiences?.
the only benefit that i can think of is that being a dub stopped me from doing drugs in highschool. this was a blessing from jehovah as i could upkeep my 55% average. boo-yah!TS
WOW...You went to highschool as a dub and had a 55%.I had the benefit of being told not to worry about higher education because the "wicked old system of things"™ only had a few more weeks or months to last. I left high school and took a job at a gas station to wait out the last "few months" As I recall that was late 1960"s...still waiting... The great benefit for me...DON'T EVER TRUST THEIR BULLSHIT !!
Being a JW never stopped me from eating turkey on Thanksgiving, or Christmas, Easter, Ukrainian Christmas, Ukrainian Easter, New Years, Victoria Day, Labour Day, or Systems Administrators Appreciation day.

yes, its true that 98 percent of the people we helped were mostly the jw's.
I think the criticism comes from the fact that they are a registered charity, and that carries some implications that aren't met by the Watchtower. On the whole charitible organizations help others, not just themselves. So in calling it a charity, they open themselves up to this criticism.
Yeah....Like Dave say's...Don't call yourself a charity if you are not willing to help ALL of the people not just those who belong to your little social club. And don't be patting yourself on the back after your HELPED YOUR OWN PEOPLE and no body else.
