I want to hear it, what has JWD given you?

I think JWD has given me people and yes even friends I can relate to and with. When you leave "the truth"? you feel you are isolated,or at least I did. I left in the early 80's when there was no support network such as JWD. Here we share a common bond and many of our stories have been repeated over and over again as the exodus from the WT continues. The support we are given here helps many of us to cope with our situation and we can even share a laugh about it now and again.

I wish I could meet some of the people on here but my circumstances prevent it for now. I do echo your sentiment.

Names given to children

what i've noticed, is that there seems to be a lot of recent jw parents who make sure to name their kids by some hebrew/biblical name.

so now you have kids running around w/names like ezekiel, reuben, isaiah, etc.

there were also a few strange names that i'm sure some of these kids would've been made fun of because of it.. have any of you noticed this?

Years ago friends of ours were going to have a baby. In conversation they said if it is a boy we are going to name him (won't mention the bible name) My wife and I both burst out laughing. We thought they were joking with us. When the boy was born he was given a more conventional name. I think we saved that kid's butt.

What world scenario would make you go back?

whenever the world has a bit of a hiccup (like the y2k bug) people seem to be keen to pick up their religious feelings again.. are there any situations that might make you heed back through the kingdom hall doors again???

many opponents of the wtbts have published information saying that the wts forbade organ transplants, and the reason given was that the wts said it was equal to cannibalism.

Why do I occationally come here? Not to talk to ex witnesses but to put a balacing argument forward to any JW that might be here that is being misslead away from the creator by the reasoning of ex JWs.

JW Ben...I am pleased that you have come here to put a "balancing arguement foreward" for any JW lurkers.

I hope they all read this full thread...with an open mind. Some might decide to side with your interpetation of this issue.

Most...if they are honest with themselves will see the real truth about the matter and we will welcome the new comers to JWD

Family secret: Memorial(tm) while on vacation in Cuba

reading simon's thread on the memorial(tm), made me realize something, that i have to share with the gang.

this is 100% true.. in the early 1990s, my parents (father = elder/secretary) took a week's vacation in cuba.. due to either poor planning, or "neglect of spiritual things(tm)", they realized they were going to be in cuba for the memorial.

(can you say whoops!!!???).

"Oh, we got some wine and some bread and we had our own Memorial(tm) in the hotel room." said Dad, trying to make it sound like this was an acceptable alternative.

It would make for a strange situation.Read a few scriptues,give a little talk,pray over the bread and wine. Both will naturally refuse it as per JW protocol. Close with prayer. Look at the bread and wine...Pour a couple of shots and put some cheez whiz on those dry crackers. Put your feet up and enjoy.

Enjoy your holiday in Cuba.You sure earned a break this year.

I am Anointed.

i have decided after much soul searching that i am anointed.

after researching the process of how one actually decides they are "special", i see that there is no way to actually prove that you are of the heavenly calling.

the spirit has borne witness in me that i am of this special class.

"? Is there anything in the Bible against giving one?s eyes (after death) to be transplanted to some living person??L. C., .
The question of placing one?s body or parts of one?s body at the disposal of men of science or doctors at one?s death for purposes of scientific experimentation or replacement in others is frowned upon by certain religious bodies. However, it does not seem that any Scriptural principle or law is involved. It therefore is something that each individual must decide for himself. If he is satisfied in his own mind and conscience that this is a proper thing to do, then he can make such provision, and no one else should criticize him for doing so. On the other hand, no one should be criticized for refusing to enter into any such agreement."

JWBEN...In the beginning (so to speak) they had no problem with organ transplants. They should have kept their mouth shut after that...But could they...No way.Then we get into all the crap that followed. Fred Franz was running things then and he was the biggest flake they ever had.(well maybe not) They are still doing damage control to clean out his very weird doctrines and ideas. If you are honest with yourself look into things fully and don't do little info bites from here and there.The days of the WT or anyone else conning us are long past.Try to think for yourself..It only hurts for a litttle while.
