well, i came across a couple of interesting pieces of news yesterday, that i thought you would all find encouraging.
while i was standing in line at macdonald?s yesterday morning, i ran into a couple of jws from the other side of town.
they were up in my area because (not surprisingly) they were laying tiles at a local bar and the work had to be done on sunday morning.
What do they do if "worldly" people want a subscription? Wouldn't they mail it to their homes? Or are they too cheap to do that now as well?Do more subs...period.If anyone wants the mags now a local dub will put it on his magazine route.
It makes much more sense to have someone drive 20 miles to drop off the rags mags than to have a subscription.
i'm leaving this forum...at least temporarily.
as i mentioned in conversation over dinner at the chicago apostafest, my upcoming school schedule (which begins next week) combined with my workload will make it very difficult to be an active member on this forum.
perhaps i'll check in occassionaly when life is a little slower but for now i'd better distance myself from the on-line scene or else the other elements in my life will suffer.
There is plenty of good in the Witnesses -- both as individuals and even as an organization -- and it behooves us to look for it.
I agree with the first part of your statement.....I STRONGLY DISAGREE with the last part.

i noticed after being a jw for a while that many members of my congregation were having to take antedepressants.
(i counted at least 30 out of 100).
after a few years i too began to have bouts of depression and problems with anxiety.

i just got off the phone with one of the elders.
they said that if i do go to the jc and ask them to help me understand why they believe certain stuff and then ask for a study i will probably not get df'd.
i can "bow" down to them and do their little game if the results would help my family.. i love my family very much.
I summoned the elders to a public meeting in 1996 by registered mail and none showed up so I disfellowshipped them.

i said it last year and i'll say it again.......... i just love my backyard rink.. .
i taught all of my children (4) how to skate on my backyard rink.
besides that, the life-lessons that they have learned extend beyond what words could express.
i was born in 1964, a convenient 50 years after 1914. even in my early teens i was doing the sums.
i had a worse case scenario figured out - if the 1914 generation could apply to babies and even if they lived to be a 120, i would still only be about 70 years old after they'd all died!
i figured that i was part of the first wave of 'jehovah's people' that really would live to see the new order - guaranteed!!

My Dad also went to jail in WW 2...he was a true believer and never gave it up.What good did it do him???Just before he died they changed the "generation doctrine" This was the carrot on the stick that he followed for most of his life.When they took it away in 95 the spark went out of him and he died less than a year later.

kent steinhaug's site http://watchtower.observer.org is being shut down.. it was the first of it's kind, and to this day probably still the largest anti wt site on the net.
The ones who would like to host The Watchtower Observer need to be aware of a fact: As soon as the site is up running the Watchtower will start trying to get it down! So, anyone thinking about hosting it will need an ISP with balls. That's for sure.
How about a game of "hot potato" Someone else takes the site under their name and hosts it.When the WT comes after them transfer ownership to a new owner and ISP and put it up again. It will take them a while to keep ahead of all the changes.They want to play games...let the games begin....
With that and quotes.watchtower receiving their cease and desist letter, the bOrg is on a rampage. Methinks the appropriate buttons have been pushed.
Think of the positive side of this.This HUGE MONSTER of an org has to respond to the pricks (no not that kind) of a few dedicated people.
This might seem as an offensive for them but to me they are starting to look really desperate...Lets keep it up.
