The system of privileges in WTS - any thoughts on how it works?

wts has quite a few traits which are typical of totalitarian systems.

many of them have been demonstrated on this board (labeling, shunning, monopoly on truth, propaganda, indoctrination, polarization of reality etc.)..

there is one more aspect of the wts religion which can also be observed in most totalitarian systems and that is the system of granting privileges.

(Psalm 45:16) No doubt he will select many of these from among the faithful elders of today. Because these men are proving themselves now, he will choose to entrust many with even greater privileges in the future when he reveals the role of the chieftain class in the new world.

The whole WTS system is based on the carrot and the stick. I remember a WT back in the early 70's talking about the elders and how they would be princes in the new system. The one elder I was studying with was quie excited about this. His job and position in life was not that high but soon....very soon he would be a PRINCE ruling over all the earth. They give you a carrot for the future but if that doesn't work they don't mind giving you the stick..NOW

What is your most ridiculous example of shunning?

how ridiculous do you get with shunning?.

sorry to min or others if this has been talked about.. mine came with the pre 1975 panic to come back to the "truth"before it was too late.. i signed up again in 1970...what a dummy.. my mother was dfed so that meant that i had to shun her.

Mine came with the pre 1975 panic to come back to the "truth"before it was too late.

I signed up again in 1970...what a dummy.

My Mother was DFed so that meant that I had to shun her. No problem I thought cause god's going to kill everyone real soon now and I really didn't want god to kill me. The problem surfaced when my brother had a serious problem and was in the hospital. I went to visit him but it happened that at the same time my Mom and Stepdad had decided to visit also.

Being a good dub I ignored the fact that they were in the same room even.I was on one side of the bed..mom on the other and I was so indoctrinated that I would not even acknowledge their being there. It is amazing how big an as*hole you can become when this cult takes over your life.

What is your most ridiculous example of being shunned?

i was just having lunch in a wendy's near my house an hour ago.

an elder and his wife entered and got in line to order without seeing me seated in the eating area.

after a minute the wife turned and saw me.

" If I had time this afternoon we'd be having a discussion with your manager about your rudness right now."

The dubs have been told time after time that there is a difference between shunning for business or shunning for pleasure.

If I go ANYWHERE and am shunned with a business transaction I sure would take it up with management.They want to keep their job they had better act professional and not as a religious zealot.

Removed from being an elder for being over weight?

in the waterbury conneticut area there was a circut overseer named caramelous (greek name not sure of spelling).

this brother more than 30 years back was having all the congregation servants removed because they where over weight.

i guess they used not moderate in habits (eating too much) as a scriptural reason.

It is amazing how often elders think they should stick their noses into some one elses life. Most of them have more than enough problems of their own.

As far as an elder being removed for being overweight it would never happen where I live. If they kicked out all the porky elders and those who liked tothey would have to dissolve several congregations.

i have been wondering who is the president of the watchtower society?

my mother told me that milton henschel died in 1993 and i have not heard of anybody ever replacing him?

my mom also told me that the society has 7 new corporations within the watchtower society.

So the moves of the org are not a sign that they're being blessed by god with rapid expansion, but rather that they're making smart business moves, and trying to cover their ASS ets.

My thought entirely.

i finally got to meet up with my best friend this weekend, and while having lunch with him at an ocean front restaurant, got to see a 3-masted schooner on the horizon, heading out to sea.

what a sight that was !!

it was a beautiful day, and a bit breezy, which was ideal for the schooner.

Will Commentary press send CoC anonymously?

i'm wondering - if i want to send a copy of coc to an old friend - and send a money order and mailing address to commentary press - would the book be sent to the person with them being unable to find out who sent it?

i found out that an old friend is df'ed but trying to get reinstated.

i just want him to have something to think about while he sits in shame at the back of the hall.

You don't have to put your name on a postal money order so there would be no way that your friend would find out you sent it. Just send in the money order and your friends mailing address and don't worry about being found out.

it instructs the speaker, "this talk should provide a fine witness concerning the truth, rather than unduly eulogizing the deceased.".

how's that for licking the plate clean?.

They must have been pretty confused to learn their son had forsaken Islamic teachings to study about Jah and his visible organization which is led by his invisible son who personally guides the visible remnant of the 144000 with the help of the invisible portion of the 144000 who are in heaven and will rule for a thousand years or maybe more considering some have been in heaven for almost a hundred years now...whew..what a mouthful.

This has gone on for a long time and it is VERY irritating.They spend 10 minutes talking about the person...born,children.where they lived and then they swing into the infomercial
He was very faithful..always put in his 10 hours per month and pioneered from time to time.He brought X numbers into the truth? and always faithfully supported all of the congregation meetings and gatherings.He LOVED the truth? and is looking forward to his reward in the New System? We know many of you here would like to be with him in the new system so after this "memorial" is over please approach any one of the elders to enquire about a "free" study of the ~~books~~ bible in your own home.
They also have very specific rules on who can do a funeral - who you can do a funeral for - how long it should take

In our area as far as I know it is handled an elder only. You will not be allowed on the platform to say anything about the deceased even if you were very close...oh did I mention women...sorry you are even farther down the list. Never would happen at a KH.

Contrast this with what happens at most churches and you can see who really has the right spirit in action.

Can YOU Determine A "Real Apostate" From A "Fake Apostate"?

so often , on this board, we see imposters claiming to be interested in learning the truth about the "truth".

they may seem to genuinely want to know things and they might ask thought-provoking questions.....so how do you know if the person you're dealing with is the real deal or not??

any tips to help us know who those "fake apostates" are??

I believe that a real apostate doesn't need to announce the fact that they are a real apostate. Only a fake apostate would do that.

Well hurt me why don't you. I announced the fact that I was a Poztate on my very first thread...and proud of it. I guess that's why no one would talk to me for such a long time...They thought I was faking it..
