Dear encourager-
Many here have given you some great stuff already-
There is actually a book called
Why You Should Believe in the Trinty
by R.M. Bowman
which is written as a direct answer to the WT's Should You Believe in the Trinity booklet. I am in the process of buying one now online.
If you'd like e-mail me and I'll see if I can find another one.
Baker books has it in their used book library for sale ($13 including shipping) so you can also try e-mailing them for a copy: [email protected]
E-mail anytime for info - I have researched this topic extensivly.

Trinty
by encourager inhey i've been reading the magazine "should you believe in the trinity" - very well laid out and i know its been around for years.. i'm struggling with this whole issue and have looked at some of the quotes and they don't seem to match the actual quotes of the early church fathers.
mainly the one by tertullian which reads as follows from the magazine.
tertullian, who died about 230 c.e., taught the supremacy of god.

Is there a burning hell???
by sadiejive ini'm just curious what everyone's view of hell is.
i know that most of you were at one time jws and i was wondering if you still held to the no-hell doctrine or if you had found scriptural reasons to believe otherwise.
if the latter applies, would you be so kind as to share the scriptures that have enlightened you?.

Adonai438
People don't like the idea of hell but that in and of itself doesn't mean it isn't real :)
Dusty old book? Well, it's the only dusty old book I know that can last unchanged for so long, be scientifically acurate, have archeological evidence for essentially everything in it, and have every prophecy it has ever made come true (besides the ones of the future of course).
Sounds like good stats to me:)
The Bible does teach that hell exists- that God created it for the Devil and his demons and when people followed him they chose his destiny.
I'll tell ya one thing kinda morbid:
Even Charles Taze believes in hell now. -

WOW GUYS- I haven't checked in on this thread in a long time!
My e-mail hasn't been telling me people are replying to this. Sorry!
Let's see if I can answer some of this! I have placed the persons handle next to each reply so you can keep track of what I am answering to.OBVES-
What about God resting on the seventh day?OBVES-
You still ignore the BIBLE even your NWT calling Jesus and the Holy Spirit God and Yahweh.OBVES-
Yes the father is God- we agree on that.
I take every scripture seriously and the simple fact is the Bible says
There is only ONE true God but calls all three God and says all three have all the divine qualities. If you believe everything the Bible says then you have just believed in the doctrine of the trinity. If you chose to throw out the parts you don't like don't expect your belief to make sense.OBVES-
The scholars say the trinity and many doctrines of God can be apprehended but not comprehended. That means we can outline the facts but may not understand how the can be. For instance- God did create the world out of nothing but that doesn't mean I can understand how he did it. If you are relying on the WT's quotes of scholars I suggest you check those quotes because all of them are either entirely made up, taken out of context or taken from athiestic sources.
Also, Denominations-
All Christian denominations believe the same core essential doctrines about God, Salvation, etc.. but have different interpretations on minor small issues- not the big stuff. The only differents between JWs and Christians in this respect is they hide their different oppinions because they are afraid to be disfellowshipped over something small. Many of the churches just use different types of music in worship so it's a matter of which is most relevant to you- ie- what is your natural worship style- Hymns, contemporary, etc... I have been to many different churches for worship and have enjoyed them very much. I have one home church because that is the example the Bible sets. Church is for worship of God and instruction on his word. It also is for fellowship among believers. We are at home with all believers no matter the denomination or church. You seem to think we all hate the other denom or church but that is not the case-
A believer is part of the universal body of Christ and family of God.Kenneson-
Another good point!WillPower-
Good points too-Food for thought
You are right-> without the trinty concept this is impassible.
Jehovah the Only Creator [Make Sure Of All Things." pg 79 1953 ed]
Sentence is self explanatory."Thus shall ye say unto them, the gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens" [Jer. 10:11, The Bible]
Conclusion: Christ will perish, along with Moses, & David, & all those other gods.David Gladden-
I am only using logic and the Bible to discuss about the trinty here. If you would like scientific proof that is another topic that can be started though-
There is no scientific proof God does NOT exist and plenty that proves He DOES. If the proof says he does exist (which it does) then you need to find out which 'God' & Holy Book is the truth. Thre are many religions out there and they cannot all be correct when each one says the others are false. After research into science, history, archeology and prophecy it is concluded that the Bible is reliable and inspired. From there you need to find out what it says and follow it. That simple. If you want to discuss any proof then just e-mail or start a thread on it :)WillPower- Again good point-
The Bible has stood the test of time and has remained the same since it ws written and the earliest Christians all believed basically the same things we do today. God says in the Bible that the gates of hell shall not prevail against his church- so how do JWs explain their thinking that this whole time the Church has been decieved and after some 1800+years after the Bible is completed, Charles Taze Russell Knows the real truth and restores it.-->and they don't even follow a lot of the teachings he originally taught (shrug)Sadiejive-
Yep- you are right!
They didn't even do a good enough job at mistranslating though because you can still find the trinity in their NWT. And their KIT proves their own translation wrong- go figure. I guess they just count on no one actually checking and if they do they accuse them of that darned 'independant thinking and Bible reading' offense.Keep on studying- the truth sets you free!

have you turned a jw into an EX-jw?
by malian inis the anyone, anyone, out there who has managed to turn a jw into an ex-jw?
i know there are lots of people who wanna know what it is that you did that worked--any (and every) suggestion is helpful!!!
i'll try anything at this point!!!

Adonai438
Well, lets see- my husband did! He was one of my first real friends when I was a kid. He was one of a few good friends that shared the Bible with me and left it up to me- It worked!
Together my husband and I have talked with over 200 separate witnesses and 'planted the seed' so to speak. A few have left and the rest we will never know for sure probably. When you read many peoples stories there seems to be common theme that one or two people stick out in their minds as starting the doubt about the WT. It usually takes awhile for someone to work through everything before they actually decide to leave.

The Baby and the Bath Water
by NeonMadman inthe other day, i was messaged by a young jw guy (using yahoo messenger, where i am breezyone2001; chat me up, gang!).
his opening line to me was, "why are you attacking the witnesses?
" i responded by asking him in what way i was attacking the witnesses, and he said that he saw my name in a yahoo club for ex-jw's.
-
Adonai438
At the risk of sounding corny: Nice to meet you brother in Christ!
I too, am a member of that yahoo club :) LuvYHWH1295
but I don't get in there much. I didn't connect neonmadman with breezyone2001. I personally left the WT because their beliefs did not jive with the Bible. I learned a lot about the true Yahweh through that 'independent thinking and Bible reading' route. To those who are thinking about or have 'thrown the baby out with the bath water' I would just like to encourage you to base your decision on God on fact, research, and study not on what the WT or anyone else did to you. If you just decide to not believe in God without checking the facts, you are no better than the JWs who put their blind faith in the WT. I know fact, history, science etc... supports the true God of the Bible.<>< Angie

Spying
by Adonai438 inrecently i read a thread where someones e-mails had been hacked by local elders.
i have been e-mailing with a very nice person who has started 'independently thinking' lately.
because of this thread i wrote her that she should be careful of people finding her e-mails.. the very next day her husband had hacked into her e-mails and was very upset.. i was just wondering for all of you- how many have experiences like this?.

Do you think JWS are a cult?
by Trixie indo you think that the jw religion is a cult?
i believe that it is, but i wanted to get other people's opinion.
-
Adonai438
Yes, it's what most people call a Psuedo-Christian cult. They claim to be true Christianty but do not follow the Bible. They have control and fear tactics and don't allow thinking in their organization. Sounds like a cult to me.

It's a underground movement of JWs for reform on the blood ban.
I am sorry they are still JW but at least they are learning some truth and they have good research articles on it. -

Are Jehovah's Witnesses evil?
by SexyTeen ini am shocked at the many accusations against jehovah's witnesses in this forum.. i know that i am young, but most of my family are jws and they are good people and i love them.
even my worldly family is very nice and i do not shun them.
the friends in the hall are very nice also.
-
Adonai438
A lot of people here have been very hurt.
Speaking for myself, it's not neccessarily the people who are'evil'.
Most JWs I knew and still know are loving people but are misled about God. They are trying to be good people because they think they have something to prove to God- they have to earn his favor over and over again to make sure they get to go to paradise. I hold nothing against the people. Unfortunately, most of them don't follow Jehovah as their final authority- they follow the Watchtower- Thus making the Watchtower their god instead. I am not making any judgement of what you personally do - I don't know you. I do know that it is forbidden to question the Society about anything and that it is not allowed to think for ones self or read the Bible without their publications. That is wrong! God is not afraid that facts be examined because facts can only prove the truth.
Being Good is not what makes you good enough to be loved by God and 'saved'.
Ephesians 2:1-10 (8&9 especially)- people are saved from their sin by God's grace alone through their faith in the true God.
I know I ramble- sorry :)Let me just say one last thing,
I don't know how old you are but when I was 15 years old I was studying to be baptised a witness myself. I loved (and still love) God very much. Something didn't seem right and I never seemed ready to actually get baptised. I didn't feel I knew what the Bible said about my beliefs enough to take that step. I had also made some terrific friends. They were christians but very loving, reasonable and non judgemental- not at all what I had been taught Christendom was. They didn't preach at me, they just listened to me tell them about Jehovah and said it was very interesting. We read the Bible together sometimes and they encouraged me to really study it to learn what it taught. So I did- I studied and studied and even prayed and I learned so much about Jehovah (Yahweh is the actual translation) through this. The problem was what I had read in the Bible was not what Jehovah's Witnesses teach. I had to stay true to God. The JWs couldn't explain how their beliefs were in the Bible- because most of them are not. It came down to a 'crisis of conscience :)' issue with me:
I could either shrug off what the Bible plainly taught and stay in my comfort zone where my family and everything else was but ignore the God that made me - or
I could stay true to God where ever that lead.
I chose the later.
The following is not meant to sound bitter but to inform you of what happens when JWs can't control someones beliefs or loyalty to them:
The body of local elders decided that since I lived with my aunt and I was not technically her child that she needed to give me an ultimatum: I had to lie and pretend I believed in JWs until I was 18 so I wouldn't influence the other 4 children or I was to be told to leave her home.
I told them I would behave according to house rules but I would not lie about God ->so I was kicked out of the house at 15 in the middle of winter with no where to go.
This is not a sad story though :)
God always stuck by me and took care of me. 6 almost 7 years later I have a terrific husband and a great 1 year old son and an awesome relationship with God.So much for wrapping it up quickly,
Please e-mail me anytime, especially if you want to know what I learned that showed me JWs is not the truth- Don't worry - I am not an 'apostate' technically. I just share the Bible- thats it.Welcome Again!
