Yikes & Welcome :)
I guess it depends on why you don't believe it's the truth anymore.
Kamikaze would be the funnest approach and I have read of many people that have tried it :) I hope you still believe in God but don't agree with WT doctrine and actions because of the Bible.
Whichever way works best for ya but when questioned you should let them know outright why. The odds that they will care are nill but you want your motives to be accurate and crystal clear- they sometimes make things up to make a person sound scary so no one will talk to them :( If you are serious about leaving a written DA might me good so there is no question as to why. I don't know but my prayers are with you (I am a christian now- not JW :) )

should mothers work?
by sleepy inshould mothers work?.
i was just reading how some tv personnality earns 250.000 a year and pays for someone to mind her children.. isn't this making her job more important than her children?would she pay this much herself for a child minder or is her job more important than being certain her children are recieving the best care?.
thats just thinking aloud ' i'm not sure where i stand on this.. maybe staying home with young children all day is to much for one human prehaps we need to do other things and children don't need their mother all the time and are ok with someone else.. i was looked after by my mother when young who gave up her job when pregnant with her first child.. my wife however was looked after by a child minder while her mum went to work .she feels she didn't miss out and would do the same.

I don't know if there is any 'right' answer to this. When you have children I think that they are your most important 'mission' in life from there on in. Everything you do should be focused on doing the best for your kids. No amount of money and things will ever be better for your children than having you there for them. Some families can't afford financially to have mom stay at home but even if that is the case mom can still make sure her priority is rearing and teaching her children. Personally, I stay at home with our one year old son and wouldn't change it for anything. There is nothing like watching him learn to walk, talk, and everything else.
He is my #1 priority in life now. -

I read this atricle recently that sums up rather nicely why the Watchtower stance on Blood Transfusions is innaccurate and deadly.
Please read this for information before taking your position on the issue & I would welcome any comments:JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES—
TWISTING THE SCRIPTURES ON BLOOD
By Lorri MacGregor
The entire world reeled in shock when Jim Jones led over 900 people to their deaths in the jungle. I cannot help but wonder how many Jehovah’s Witnesses have died without fanfare, one by one, refusing blood transfusions. I was very nearly a statistic also while a
Jehovah’s Witness. Let’s consider this dangerous doctrine.A key scripture used by the Jehovah’s Witness leaders is Genesis 9:4, which they teach is binding on all inhabitants of the earth,
“Only flesh with its soul—its blood—you must not
eat” (NWT).
This Scripture is telling the flood survivors not to eat unbled meat. Nothing more is implied, except by the Jehovah’s Witnesses, who say “eating” means “transfusing.” The Old Law Covenant given to the nation of Israel did contain dietary laws on blood, but they
were not binding on Gentiles (see Deuteronomy 14:21). Also, Jehovah’s Witnesses are taught that they will lose their eternal life if they take a blood transfusion. This excessive penalty for “eating blood” does not even agree with the Old Law!
Here is the Old Law penalty contained in Leviticus 17:14,15:
“For the soul of every sort of flesh is its blood by the soul in it. Consequently I said to the sons of Israel: ‘You must not eat the blood of any sort of flesh, because the soul of every sort of flesh is its blood. Anyone eating it will be cut off.’ As for any
soul that eats a body (already) dead or something torn by a wild beast, whether a native or an alien resident, he must in that case wash his garments and bathe in water and be unclean until the evening; and he must be clean.” (New World Translation)
Yes, the penalty for eating (or in Jehovah’s Witness reasoning, taking a blood transfu-sion)was being “cut off,” until you had washed your clothes and taken a bath, and then you
could return! Why then believe an organization that would take your eternal life as a pen-alty for a blood transfusion?
God never would!
Likewise, the New Testament scriptures in Acts, chapter 15, verses 20 and 29, saying among other things to “abstain from blood,” are not by any stretch of interpretation referring to blood transfusions. It is interesting that at one point in the history of the Watchtower Society all the Scriptures they now use to refuse blood transfusions were used to refuse vaccinations! Remember that in the past the Society rejected the theory that diseases were caused by germs
and ridiculed Pasteur for this scientific truth. The founder of the Society, Charles T. Russell, also taught that appendicitis and typhoid fever were really caused by biting worms in the
colon. With their history of advice on medical issues, one would do well to ignore their “truths” on blood transfusions as well.We are encouraged by the recent “revolt” against this unbiblical practice by a secretgroup of Jehovah’s Witnesses themselves. Since they are operating on the internet, the elders can’t catch them and dispose of them. They produce excellent medical information on blood transfusions and expose the hypocrisy of the Watchtower Society.

Where were you when you first came here?
by Xena ini noticed in a couple of threads people discussing the impact this board would have on jw's with doubts coming here and reading the messages.
it got me to wondering where most people that post here were at...what stage in their jw/ex jw process...when they started reading and/or posting here.
also curious, when you did come here what was your main focus?

I have been out of the WT for 6years. I am not sure how I stumbled on this board a few months ago but here I am. I left the WT because their beliefs did not jive with the Bible and I am now a Christian.
My husband and myself have a ministry to cults in our area. I come here to read others opinions and stories and contribute some of the Bible's point of view on things. It helps me know where other types of people that are or were JW are comming from. I try to help the seeking JW or still JW with info and encourage those who have left.

QUESTION: What religion are you in now? ...
by terafera inthis got me to thinking.... now that most of us have left the wts, i notice some have taken other belief systems.
some have come to a peace with their own ideas.. my question is are you involved with another religion?
has it brought you more peace or happiness?
-
Adonai438
Terraferra- I know I already answered this for you personally but I'll post it in the general thread too :)
This is what I have found to be truth- I do not force it upon anyone but I know after much study and research it is correct.
Religion is not the same thing as God. God exists (to which science, logic, archeology, and reason can prove). So it is our responsibility to find out who he is- what god & holy book is the truth for they can't all be right when each one rules the other as false.
The Bible has stood the test of time and translation without error, every prophecy it has made has been fulfilled thus far-still waiting for future ones-, is historically and archeologically correct, etc.... So we need to take seriously what it says.
I am a christian now,
The new testament says 'They were first called Christians at Antioch' so that is what the true followers/ believers are called.
Christianity isn't about religion it's about God and following Jesus. When you are 'saved' you enter into God's family, not a religion.
When making up your mind regarding God I would encourage anyone to judge based on fact, study and research not on what the WT did or what people do.

Actually in response to terrafera's response on the issues of blood and holidays I thought I'd leave this bit of info for y'all:
BLOOD
Jw's like to quote Leviticus 17:14 as there proof that anyone that eats blood would be cut off.
They say that this is everlasting cutting off which God will still do today for eating blood.
I think it would do well to read the next verse as well.
Verse 17:15 says that the 'punishment' or command to those that ate blood was taking a bath and washing their clothes and then by evening they were clean.
So, why would God 'eternally cut off' someone now for taking a transfusion if the actual eating of blood in the Old Testament was only punishable of taking a bath? The Old Testament law is much more strict and detailed than new testament teaching so where does it say that people who take blood will be eternally cut off?
It does not say that in the Bible. Yes you should avoid drinking blood but it also says that it is not what goes into a man -ie-foods-that makes him unclean but what comes out- ie-words.
Take this into consideration on the Blood issue.CHRISTMAS
Jws would have the whole world believe that Christmas is an adaptation of a pagan holiday. Jesus celebrated the festival of lights- which is hannukah- even though no where in the Bible is that holiday commanded. It was a holiday that celebrated a work of God even though God did not order it's celebration Jesus seemed to participate without condemning it.
December 25 was chosen as the date to celebrate the Birth of Jesus for a few reasons. First of all it is traditionally held as the time of the incarnation- not the birth. Since the actual birth date is not known early christians had to pick a day. Since Christianity has its roots in Judaism maybe we should be looking there for the answer and not paganism since that was condemned by them. Christians picked Deceber (jewish month Kislev) 25 because that was the exact date of the Temples cleansing. Antiochus desecrated the temple on Dec. 25 and set up worship of his god in it because it was an existing heathen holiday. It is recorded that exactly three years to the day that the temple was cleansed and rededicated. Christians picked this day because of the work of God on that day and the cleansing of the temple being a fitting picture of what Christ came to do. The ultimate cleansing.
The CHristmas tree is also not of pagan origen like JWs would have you believe so e-mail me if further info is needed. :)In Yahwehs service,

Ran accross this article on the Watch Tower Publication:

In Summarry it is about how the Watch Tower mis-quotes scholars to make them say what they want. It documents many errors and backs them up with direct quotes from the scholar in question. Their quotes are either entirely false or taken out of context to what the person was saying. This is nothing new to the WT but this article is very 'enlightening' :) -

OBVES & JWs If Jesus were not God,then Expl...

DW-
Respectfully, you are right and wrong :)
Both arguments seem intelligent but studying God's word will bring you truth. I don't claim to be infallible or someone to be followed- no Christian does but Christians have experienced God and he is wonderful- his word is not that hard to understand although some would want us to think it is. No work can save you as we've discussed previously but faith alone. Faith in the true God my friend.
Our faith is only as good as what we put it in. So study the Bible and Love God and God will be fair. God bless DW! <>< -

Sorry for the ramble to anyone except OBVES,
I am not gifted with brevity :)As regards to obves about creation:
So Jesus didn't REALLY make everything- it's just figurtive?
So when do you take the Bible seriously?
When is it actually saying what it said? I guess it's symbolic when it doesn't fit with you doctrine but literal when you think it does.*incidentally: I did understand your previous posts- they are just incorrect. Don't assume because I don't agree with you that I am unable to comprehend what you are saying. Maybe you didn't understand my replies because aparently you still think there is still more than 1 God despite what the Bible says.
As to many god's argument: It's just plain wrong and blasphemy against God to claim anything is equal to him. You aren't even argueing JW doctrine here because such doctrine is grounds for disfellowshipping. Now you may try to say that is what the trinity does but it does not. I'll again recount what the doctrine of the trinity is because I know JW's doen't neccessarily know it:
There is only one TRUE God, Yahweh, who eternally exists in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three are separate persons and are not eachother- ie. The father is not the Son and so on. Three persons are one being, God.It is absolutely sure Jesus was not eyt existing when God started creating the universe from point zero .There was nothing .
If you want to bulid something you must have tools forst and materials to start creating something. Are you saying Jesus was floating in the emptiness with nothing around him ?! It doesn't seem logical at all.It is an assuption on your part that Yahweh is only the Father. God,Yahweh, was eternally existant before creation. Yes, all three existed eternally. There was nothing besides God. Whats this about tools? If God needed 'tools' how did he make Jesus in your thinking?
Are you saying the Father was 'just floating in the emptiness with nothing around him' ? That's the same statement as if Jesus was just floating. Maybe you think Christians think that Jesus had a body for all eternity. If that's what you mean you are mistaken. Jesus has eternally existed and took on flesh at the incarnation. From there on Jesus has a physical body but he was Spirit before just like the Father and Holy Spirit are now.You still didn't answer the verses that state Jesus is prayed to- you seem to think that Jesus has to ask the Father to know what people pray about. Where are you deriving that from? I know there is no scripture that says that Jesus has to ask the Father so are you getting that from your assumption that Jesus is not God so he 'can't' know all things? The fact is if he is prayed to in the Bible he must know what we are saying or else why have and do we now pray to him?
Why is Jesus the only mediator between God and Man if he can't even know what we pray? Some mediator! So let me get this staight, We have to pray to the Father to have him tell Jesus what we are praying for so Jesus can mediate for us to the Father? That is not what mediator means. As to your I Am issue:
I AM capitol or i am lower case is still Yahweh in hebrew- Hebrew is written in either all small OR all capitol- exclusively one or the other. I am writting in ENGLISH though and in English we use capitols for beginning of sentences, names etc.. With or without capitols the Bible still stands true to what alot of us here are trying to share with you. Nothing else in the Bible is called Yahweh except the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. It's true believers will bear the name of God but it's clear they are bearing the name of God- not claiming or being called Yahweh. I've gone over this many gods stance of yours too many times. So Yahweh is " I AM " using the Englsih language makes it easy to discern the differences. Jesus is " I am" .144000 are "i am".
Like the word lord;
Yahweh is the LORD. Jesus is the Lord, 144000 are lords !!!
Yahweh is GOD, Jesus is God,144000 are gods !!!
I have done so to help you understand how it shoudl be renedered in the Bible in the English language if I were a translatorYou are just making up these ways of titling ranks here. You yourself said there are no capitols. There is ONE and ONLY ONE GOD-
I AM is Yahweh who is the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit----a later post will prove this.
The 144,000 are not gods, lords, or i ams. They are NEVER called that in the Bible.
[b]1st Corinthians 8:5:
"For even if there are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords"), yet for us there is but ONE..."[b/]Hope you take this into account, if you have questions go ahead- the truth is not hurt by lies, and stay tuned for more posts for you to ponder :)
