Just for fun...
by Vidiot in…(and for the very first time), i thought i'd post a new topic completely non-wt-related... about a subject matter i have a particular affinity for.... ..i'm a major movie geek (most people here already know that), but one of the many things i especially like are what i call "middle-finger victory lines".. they are memorable (and extremely quotable) moments of dialogue, wherein the protagonist says an extremely cool or badass comment to a very deserving defeated opponent.... ...usually (but not always) said when victory has just been literally snatched from the clutches of certain defeat, and serving as a tall, proud, and victorious flipoff to the often (but not always) shocked-at-the-sudden-turn-of-events enemy.. my ten favorites:.
"smile, you sonofabitch.
"sheriff brody to the shark......just before firing his last bullet into a scuba tank lodged in the charging shark's open jaws.jaws (1975).

First On-Screen Crush?
by Simon inmany years ago, we lived in a world where the one tv in your house might be black and white, perhaps color if you were lucky, but either way the screen was small and the arial on your house would struggle to deliver a decent signal but often fail in a fuzzy mess.
most of the movies you saw were old, there was no home video or rental - you got a chance to see something and then it was gone.
planning your viewing was important to make sure you didn't miss something so you'd carefully scan the tv guide to pick out your favourites ... good job there were only 2 or 3 channels to look through.. but you could still see quality if you went to the movie theatre and there you got to see glorious film on a giant screen (which is only now being equalled quality wise).

So, the Womens March ... What Is It For?
by Simon init seems like mobilizing after the election, which seems pointless.
i keep hearing demands for equal rights but don't understand what rights they are missing exactly.. normally a march is to show the support (and potential votes) for a cause, but ... votes for what?
... and the election happened already.. is anyone else confused?

Just thought I'd return to this thread.
Q&A is a panel show in Australia that deals with current issues and politics. It's basically the Aussie version of Britain's Question Time.
There's this batsh*t-crazy feminist called Mona El-Tahawy.
Apparently, she is against the death penalty and prison on principle but she speaks of killing rapists extra-judicially. Yeah, honest. You have to watch this crap to believe it.
"How long must we wait for men and boys to stop murdering us ..."

The Latest From The Loony Left
by Simon inso apparently, not only can people identify as men or women, regardless of reality, but they've now declared that people can identify as black or white as well!
no word yet from rachel dolezal, who will no doubt be declared a visionary, and sadly michael jackson didn't live long enough to celebrate.. i must say, now that i am a black woman, my views on reparations have completely changed.
y'all owe me some reparations bitches to make up for slavery yo.

I identify as a rich man. That's my gender, 'rich'.
You see, I'm a rich man born into a poor man's body.
It's ok, tho, the government can just deposit £1,000,000 into my bank account and all will be well.

Plus there was a woman in Fright Night (1985). Anyone remember the vampire next door (Jerry Dandridge, played by Chris Sarandon) seducing a young topless women ... with the whole scene being spied on by Charley Brewster?
I think that was the first time I saw breasts on screen (I was 12).

It isn't just seeing this beautiful woman, it's listening to the musical score, too, that takes me back to being a 12 year old kid.

I've seen articles online about Andrew's interview but haven't read about it.
As far as I can tell, it seems to be a case of the upper classes doing whatever they like, as if normal rules didn't apply to them.
Maybe somone should burst Andrew's bubble - perhaps a lawyer working pro bono for the poor people who were abused at Epstein's place.
Edit: will read Piers Morgan's article later.

Another High School Shooting ... Pleasantville, New Jersey
by RubaDub inlast evening (15 nov 2019) at a high school football game in new jersey, another shooting.
"fortunately," the injuries are apparently not life threatening.. that's at least the second shooting this week.
if all the students were armed, they could have just shot the guy.. we need more guns, not less.

Schools in the USA have a serious problem of lone students shooting other children.
Clearly, there needs to be effective solutions.
One effective solution could be trained people being employed as armed security.
A crazy 16 year old armed with a gun is very powerful. Only an appropriately armed and trained adult can stop him.
So, yeah, armed security in schools could work.
