A Question for Underground Apostates, How Many Are There?
by Village Idiot inwhen i first came to this forum i was of the belief that those of us who were still in due to family reasons were few in numbers perhaps one in a thousand in the jws.
soon i came to the realization that there were many more.
we have dozens of posters here who are mentally out but still in.

Still in and still an MS. My wife knows I don't believe but she isn't pushing the issue at the moment and neither am I. I wonder a lot about how many are awake. I think the number is low. I base that on how many views the most popular ex-dub YouTube videos get. Not all that many. Possibly up to 10,000 but even that is rare. I would guess .5% and even most of them are barely awake. -

What's the new donation policy?
by BenRichards ini faded a few years ago and haven't been to a meeting since.
i've seen a few threads here about the new donation policy and mentions of congregations having to send money to the mothership but i don't have all the details.
can anyone explain what the new policy is?

In the US each congregation asked all the family heads how much they would donate a month. The elders added all that together and then figured out how much the monthly expenses were. Whatever extra would be left over each month was pledged to the organization. Our hall sends $250/mnth from our congregation funds. The worldwide work donations still go directly to the borg. Also any extra funds above 3 months of expenses that was in the congregations bank account was sent to the Borg. Our hall kept 5k and sent off around 20 k.
The donation box that was for worldwide building has been eliminated Now there are two donation options at each hall. WWW and Local expenses

Welcome from Michigan. I am also still in for many of the same reasons as you. I have wondered if I could keep it going permanently. I don't think I can. I'm thinking 5 more years for me. But who knows. Time flies... -

What is dating as a JW like
by UFCFan infirst off i want to say that i'm a teenager which makes my situation interesting.
i don't want to give too many details in case someone i know reads this but i'm between 14 and 18, homeschooled, and i've been awake for around one or one and a half years.
i already have a plan to attend usc or wisconsin university if i'm smart enough to get in and then move to san jose and try and get a job working for a hs football team or with a soccer team, since i want to coach sports or be an agent.. now, this all sounds great in theory but there's one thing i've been thinking about that makes me doubt my plan.

I'm a kid 14-18
I know TTATT.
I'm home schooled.
I wanna go to USC.(or Wisconsin)
I have a crush on a dub girl.
I don't know what "dating" is like.
i have a serious learning disability.
You sound incredibly naive. That can happen when dub kids are home schooled. I wish you the best!

Amber comes from a rich family who owns car dealerships in Grand Rapids Michigan. I'm not sure what they are called. They are the ones the borg has used for CO leases in the past. -

You are so sincere! Way more than I ever was. I can't wait till you decide to join the dark side. It's just a matter of time with all of the bad association that you are indulged in on this site.

Trolley Stands Up, Door-to-Door Work Down?
by steve2 inseveral threads have discussed the increased use of of the trolley work by witnesses in various countries (e.g, australia, new zealand, the states, canada and britain to name a few).
several posters have described trolley settings as largely ignored by passersby and/or the witnesses immersed in everything other than appearing ready and waiting to make contact with passersby.
what impact will this increased shift to trolley work have on the hallmark feature of jws, their door-to-door work?

In my area the trolley witnessing has had little effect on our preaching. There are a lack of good areas to place the trolley that you can get approval for. Regardless only two "friends" are operating a trolley at a time. The rest are still expected to be knocking.
What i def do se though is a major decrease in zeal while preaching D2D.

Canada's MACLEANS article "Against their will: Inside Canada’s forced marriages." The main subject in the story is an XJW we all know.
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://www.macleans.ca/news/canada/against-their-will/.
forced marriage is one of the last taboos to break.
a new law could make it a crime.

Andersoninfo, thanks for sharing.
i personally don't think this is common among witnesses in the US. I have no idea about other countries. Regardless, this was an interesting read.

What is the furtherest your car group traveled to a return visit that counted as time?
by adjusted knowledge ingrowing up i lived in the middle of florida in the southern part.
i had a friend whose father was an elder, and would stay at their homes during the weekends.
one of the "rules", as we all know jw love rules, was that who ever spent the night had to go out in field service on saturday.

Sounds like my kind of morning. I am an expert at wasting time preaching. Never drove that far though. Prob 45 minutes is the max. A normal morning now entails 2 RVs, one nada-home, break, 1 RV and call it a day.
