I just don't know what I'd do if I had children. I can only offer my personal experience which is that I was spanked, thrashed even, as a child but that didn't teach me to solve problems with violence. I'm a non-violent (fairly) well-adjusted adult now. Would I be the same if I had never been spanked? I just don't know!

Notsurewheretogo, it supported the theory that a Babylonian ark of a size that could hold a few local animals and a family could have existed and formed the basis for a larger myth.
The program did NOT support the biblical flood story with it's global flood and Tardis\ark.

for me sparrowdown is a playful reference to matt 10:29 and the title of the movie black hawk down.. matt 10:29 was my go-to scrip to "prove" that god cares about us as individuals.

I n the recommendation for Game of Thrones (where n is the number of recommendations so far plus one). It's very well made and chock full of nudity, violence and swearing.
If you have Amazon Prime then Black Sails is great. It tells the story of what happened up to the beginning of the story of Treasure Island. High production values, lots of nudity, violence and swearing. :)

How would you answer?
by punkofnice ina friend of mine (who is waking up), recently had the elders do a sheep herding visit.. they were browbeating my friend about attending meetings.
my friend has been ill and unable to attend anyway.. what response would you give to this garbage?.
if we were in a house and it was on fire and we couldnt walk we would have to crawl.. an example of a sister with an iron lung was brought up to show that if shes in this condition, we need to examine ourselves.

BU2B, I think what you need to do is Fade. I didn't, I just left but I wasn't married at the time. But I'm sure that there are a people on here with experience of fading while married to a JW so I hope they can give advice. In fact, that's what my father did so I know it can be done.
Personally I think that extreme actions are a bad idea. For a few seconds of venting your frustration you will create conflict and anger, both of which will make achieving your goal less likely (I'm presuming your goal is to stop being a JW but stay with your wife). What is your goal? Feeling anger and hurt is completely understandable but if you can put those feelings in a box and act reasonably and logically you're much more likely to achieve your aims.
I hope you get there because you have exactly as much right to happiness as your wife, everyone in your congregation and in fact everyone in the world. Fact.

ALIENS!! (and the downfall of religion)

(although i could be proved wrong).
if any alien lifeform was found on mars or another planet or even a comet, be it tiny bacteria or even some form of non carbon based life form, would that not destroy religions grip on mankind?

they gathered on the streets, lit candles, wrote condolence, anything to feel solidarity and to spread a wave of love.
churches, temples, mosques and retreat centers were flooded with people seeking to raise their consciousness beyond the senseless killing to a higher, more noble plane.
