  15 july 1906 issue of the watch tower russell stated maria russell was the first who in 1894 "called attention to matt.

  24:44-45, applying it to me at a meeting at allegheny and in another meeting with the new york church.

  What were the calculations used to arrive at the 1874 date of Christ's return?

  we all know the calculations used by the wt to arrive at 1914. fall of babylon in 607 (false year), gentile times, no zero year, ta-da, 1914.. what did they use before that?

  i know it wasn't russell who came up with it - he just adopted it.

  i'm just curious what they had to explain away when they made the transition.. .

  in an earlier thread, i mentioned that i wasn't a particularly doggy person but that my parents got a husky last year that i've come to regard as a kind of brother.. huskies superficially resemble wolves and for me it's been fun to compare and contrast husky and wolf behaviour.

  huskies howl but rarely bark, and seem to have a strong prey drive and a strong pack instinct - a nod to their wild cousins.

  this is why i love huskies, i think.. do you have a favourite dog breed and why?.

  The idea of a personal god is an anthema to the fear o death. JW's believe they are the only ones who will live on after death. As long as you have people believing that kind of horseshit, you will have bully religions like he JW's. Period. So even though you have reversals, new gullibles will continue to fall prey to its trap. Unless the media, collaboratively, choose to expose this cult.

  Brother Knorr's Cadillac and other secret perks

  back when i was a wee lad, my dad told me that the brothers in brooklyn had voted to purchase a cadillac motor car for the sole use of the then president, nathan h knorr.

  he'd got this information from the london bethel, him being a chum of the then branch overseer, pryce hughes and his pal ron drage.

  religious leaders of non-profit sects are supposed to take a vow of poverty!.

  i was thinking about how so many posters here on jwn are frustrated and frantic to help their loved ones get away from the brainwashing of jws, and how much advice is given about how to help family members and loved ones.

  i considered my own leaving and that it was internal turmoil based on the teachings getting weirder and child abuse issues, to name just a few, and it made me wonder:.

  did you self-awaken or were you assisted by the gentle proddings of a friend or family member?

  Although I had doubts all along. Especially on FS.

  In fact during my baptism I was completely terrified as to whether I was doing the right thing.

  Once I read TTAT and CoC, that was it!

  Jesus to run for record 26th term in office !

  sources within heaven have revealed to us that jesus h christ intends to run for what would become his 26th term in office as ruler of the galaxy.. since his first term began in 1914 he's been unopposed in office despite, many say, failing to deliver on any of his pre-election promises.

  they point to promises of "an end to death and eternal life for all" as being unrealistic given the funding given to healthcare as just one of many examples.. critics say the elections themselves are rigged and in fact no one even gets to case a vote because his father simply declares him the winner.

  they believe that have proof that this was planned for some time in what many are calling "biblegate" and point to basic un standardsfor democracy which haven't been lived up to.. many of his supporters thought that his 16th term beginning in 1975 would define his rulership but they lost faith when his party later blamed them for having "unrealistic expectations".. "i did originally support him", says one man who didn't want to be identified for fear of reprisals, "but i'm starting to grow old and now think i'll die without ever seeing any of the changes his promised to enact".. we tried to contact the heaven party to ask when he planned to do any of the things he promised.

  DEMONS: the torment I suffered

  when i was in my teens i wanted a room of my own, but i lived with my grandparents whose house was very small.. my uncle had been living in a little one room bed-sitter way out in the backyard.

  he married and moved away and i moved in.. it was quite isolated and the ceiling was six feet from the floor.

  unfortunately, the top of my head was four inches higher than that!

  This is strange. I get similar shakes and jerks while sleeping. However, I dismissed them as some subconscious nervous reactions on some nights, to the stresses of my day time job. But thanks. Now I know what it is!
