My suicide attempt yesterday...
by Gregor injust when you think life could not possibly kick you in the teeth any worse something like james browns passing blind sides you.
after listening to "i feel good" several times, including a half hearted attempt to dance to it, i swallowed an entire package of m&ms and drank a half pint of brandy.
fortunately my wife found me in time and forced me to drink a scotch and soda.

Comments You Will Not Hear at the 12-31-06 WT Study (Discipline)
by blondie inwas he married to his own mother?
q1) why should we accept divine discipline?.
does that mean if a jw married their ex-stepmother or ex-stepfather today, they would be dfd?.

Interesting observation about Joseph............not reporting Mary who he knew was pregnant before marrying her....
I think the WTBS needs to re-evaluate HOW to keep the congregation clean.
How would JESUS keep the congregation clean if HE were alive today?
I doubt he would do so in the manner the elders do, by publicly humiliating someone who's conscience has already damned them to pieces and don't need to have their sins made public.

I told my wife why I wouldn't comment at the last WT Study

I think your "soft approach" in how you have reasoned with your wife is excellent
If she ever makes comments about being mistreated by any elder, maybe getting this book: "The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse" might be one to lay out.
I am reading this book for the 2nd time. The first time I read it, I thought there were JW's that actually were the writers.

Would Jesus Have Been Incorporated?
by Golf inthis is the question i asked on terry's excellent post.
if jesus and his apostles we're preaching in this and age, would they have been incorporated?
i had this question on my mind for years.

I doubt very much that Jesus would be running a business. His motto was: "you received free, give free".

I finally did it!!
by Irreverent ini volunteered and gave blood for the first time this past tuesday.
my heart condition has improved to the point that my doctor okayed my donating blood.
i am kind of a wuss when it comes to shots and needles; but being in a hospital in intensive care gets you over that.

I have thought about donating because I am very healthy, but, whenever I have blood tests it takes forever to get the sample.

Otherwise Engaged...
by LittleToe injust a little breaking news:.
after several years of a great friendship with diane (previously posted as xena) things have started to really come together recently and i've succumbed to making an honest woman of her (or at least as honest as it's possible to make her.
last night (xmas day) i popped the question and she agreed to marry me (i wonder if she knows what she's let herself in for!!!)..
