  Is this still their view about "Those resurrected"?

  do the jw's still teach that those resurrected will not marry and be without a sex?

  (eunich).

  can't help but think that it is the same with those hit with radiation during a bombing.. .

  I remember the no marriage teaching, but not about being genderless. I guess since my mom was a convert it was a larger learning curve for us as well. I remember my mom doing things even after she was baptised and people gasping "you can't do THAT!". Buying raffle tickets at a farmers market was one that stood out. THE HORROR! Lol. God, the more I read here the less I realise I knew about being a Witness. I was always taught to accept everything without question. So it didn't matter to me what we believed because I had to accept it anyway. So messed up.

  hello everyone it's nice to finally be able to post i had trouble getting emails last month and was never able to sign up.

  this has been a very informative site which has really helped me grow and to think for myself.

  please allow me to introduce myself.. i was born into a witness family and was baptized at a young age an was part of a small kingdom hall.

  Why do JWs stay despite doubts & discoveries about JW Beliefs?

  if we are going to create a pie chart with the following categories, what could be the main components-reasons and their respective percentages for just staying in the organization in spite of the doubts, discoveries about the jw doctrines/beliefs?

  i doubt if the topmost reason is because of love of jehovah god and his son jesus christ.

  your inputs dear friends and fellow brothers will be most appreciated.. a. below 40 years old.

  Born-In Girls--Did You Have a Doll at KH

  when i was preschool, i had several dolls.

  meetings were so hard at that age.

  in fact, they were agony my entire life.

  when I was really little , we weren't allowed to go to the KH with my mom so I was slightly older and I don't remember ever bringing toys, just notebooks and maybe pencil crayons or coloured pens. Sometimes for "fun" we got to tally up how many times they said certain words during meetings. Lol.

  Now, even before being mentally out I would bring my kids one or two quiet toys, small books (those horrible worldly books, you know the ones that teach abc's and such!), stickers and notebooks and pencil crayons. I never was spoken to. Although my mom would give me looks and say "you only ever had your theocratic items". Then I reminded her she never had toddlers or preschoolers at the meetings.

  I would totally let my kids bring dolls. It's ridiculous that they expect kids to stay up way past their bed time and sit completely still during a meeting that even adults find painful.

  Head covering for women--how did you feel about this? Men? Women?

  thinking about how this felt awkward to some of us women when a bible student noticed something was "up" if a baptised brother sat in on a study.

  had to reference 1 cor.

  11:1-16.. i wonder if this irked any while you were still in?.

  I just remembered my first experience with the head covering issue. Growing up with divorced parents it never really came up in our household. Then I went to a friend's house whose father was df'd and when we were about to eat lunch and she was going to say a prayer for us, she threw a tea towel on her head. I was so confused and I laughed, I had never heard of the head covering thing. Then I felt bad for her when she explained it was because her husband was "present" and couldn't say a prayer for them since he was df'd (outside working on the house).

  I thought it was embarrassing. I never wore one, even if I was saying a prayer in front of my husband. I really didn't think that sort of Pharisee rule would matter to Jehovah.

  Suicide - How many do you know within the JWs

  one interesting but truly tragic is the number of jwhovah's witnesses who commit suicie.. now i suspect that if a person commits suicide shortly before or after they are disfellowshipped then the elders would say that person wasn't a witness or that they had done something so terrible that they were too guilty to admit it and by their action of committing suicide they pretty much declared they were no longer a jw.. yup fancy talk to make sure any crap didn't fall on them.. so my question.. do you know of cases like this?

  if so then can you answer a few more questions.. had this person been dfed or in real danger of being dfed or whatever the equivalent is if they were never baptized?.

  I know of 6, one possible one (suspicious accident). A close friend was also at the Convention in Rome and saw first hand the brother who committed suicide at the convention. Super sad.

  Do you think not having the book study in private homes has had much effect?

  it's been a few years since the organization ended the book study arrangement in private homes.. gone was the last opportunity to have tea and biscuits and a natter with the friends afterwards.. do you think people regret losing the book study?

  for some, it may have been the only time they were able to get some "associaton".

  My view is a little different from above. I was certainly happy to have another night for myself, but that was my "favourite" meeting. It's a much more relaxed and yes, tea / coffee nights were nice. It has DEFINITLY made people less social, more stand-offish and more apathetic as far as treating others as human beings. You can't get to know people as well. I think it was a big mistake as far as being loving Christians, but I'm sure it's made control easier. They're moving to more controlled material wth every organizational change. They don't want discussion like they used to!

  New Policy on Inactive Ones?

  this may have been discussed, but i just recently was told that a km this past year stated that inactive ones are now to be treated as if they are df'd.

  is this so?

  In my old hall, though irregular we never it shunned. I'm fact if we were still there I don't know if I would have found our the truth (the real truth) because they were all truly kind (it was a very small hall and they included us in everything, even if we had missed the meeting that day, helped with the kids, etc)

  In this hall though we are very irregular we get shunned, big time. When we tried answering we wouldn't get picked (not even our kids) even if our hands were the only ones up they would wait the extra seconda for someone better, like an elders wife. I should thank them though because it is one of the major factors in my awakening. Not one elder, pioneer, publisher, ANYONE Called or anything when major, major medical issues came up in our family. Really loving people. :(

  Ok this is a bit OT, but can someone answer me this:

  Don't JWs view homosexuality the same level of sin as everything else (I know in practice that they treat it way worse and 90% are just homophobic)?

  I still can't believe the talk given in Italy and I wish there was a way to share it with my husband without him knowing I got it from an "apostate" source. I don't have any contacts in Italy! Are JWs supposed to check if their clothes are designed or made by people who are having premarital sex or who smoke or do drugs? Or is it only clothes designed by "the homosexuals who love it when we wear tight pants" that we now I be careful of? Makes me livid to think about. Such hateful words.
