By all accounts I probably seem to most of them to be the poster child for the society. I pioneered, was appointed at 17, and then appointed as an elder in my mid 20s. I have the most responsibilities of any man in my hall, not because I don't suck, but the others are getting old and just can't do it. With the small body we have, I have at least 1 but usually 2 parts on Thursday nights, the hall book study, the Watchtower and the service committee. I have circuit and district level responsibilities and 1 or 2 public talks a month. So it's not unheard of for me to make 2 meetings on Sunday; to do the WT and then leave town for a talk. The thing is I don't believe any of it. I'm a self confirmed apostate.

No offense IP_SEC....but reading this one section alone made me REALLY exhausted!

Listener, you are absolutely right. I love giving talks and helping people. The adoration of the friends will be extremely difficult to lose... That is my main hurtle right now. Selfish yes.

No, not necessarily selfish. Gratifying, even if you don't believe it. You are definitely pseudo-schizophrenic. If you don't leave with the real mental illness, i'll be surprised! Yes, Little Toe set the standard for Disassociation! As listener or someone suggested, you will have a huge vacancy when you used to have all the responsibility with talks, etc. You might think about replacing that with Toastmasters or other form of speaking group. Who knows, you might just end up as a professional motivational speaker! Not unheard of and the pay is far better. Good luck and blessings to you IP-SEC.

Hey IP_Sec,

I'm curious why you stay in. Maybe you've mentioned this before, and I missed it. Sounds like you may be trapped (by family or friends). I always count my blessings my situation let me escape. I also realize many others are not so lucky.

You also demonstrate why the WT is ultimately doomed. You are used beause you bright and articulate. The bright and articulate superstars end up quickly seeing through the bulls--t, and either fading away or going supernova (ala Little Toe).

Your congregation sounds like my parent's -- one or two highly articulate brothers getting all the parts, the other elders too old, stupid, and lazy to bother.
