My friend was "Public Reprooved" for Bestuality. Is this crazy to you?

  While I can't vouch for this story and I have to agree that it sounds a little off...I do remember years ago, stated from the stage, that one should not display too much affection to animals, that it could be unnatural somehow. I don't remember all of what was said, but reading this experience triggered that memory.

  I also remember a statement (can't remember if it was the same talk or a different one) that animals cannot feel affection for humans. I remember that the animal lovers in the congregation were quite upset about that. They flat out refused to accept that. I remember my pet from growing up and based on my experience I had to disagree with that statement myself, though, I figured at the time that maybe the brothers who wrote that had to know more than I did. Looking back, I realize I should have gone with my instinct.

And if that's all she is doing, then the elders don't have a case. If I were in her position, I'd demand to see in the elders manual where it say her action qualifies.

  I have a hard time believing this story too. And even if the elders did reprove somebody, my guess is that this is so borderline, I doubt they'd do a public reproof. Unless she admitted to something else when they met with her...

  sounds like an urban legend........................although I do know of a couple who were told that oral sex was all right (before they were married) because the old duffer elders didn't know what it meant and assumed it was kissing.

  However, I would take this story with a pinch of salt myself, even the dumbest body of elders would not go as far as this.

  I've seen nearly as dumb by the elders, I'd buy it. Those whacko's are capable of anything.

  It could be that she was reproved not for the affection to animals bit, but because of her "bad attitude" toward the elders who took it upon themselves to police how the friends are to pet their animals.

  I've seen people reproved and DFd in the past, not for the transgression so much but because they didn't heed the counsel coming from the elders. Even when elders have no authority over something, when they get all up in arms about something, there's no stopping them. So if you get headstrong, over-zealous elders trying to lord it over someone who knows their rights, I'd say that in the end there's going to be a reproval.
