Well, I have confirmed rumors that have gone around about there being no annual service report for the January 1st, 2005 issue.

It seems, for reasons unknown, that the Watchtower has ended another decades long tradition.

In the second study article for the January 1st, 2005 Watchtower, entitled, "Trained To Give A Thorough Witness," paragraph 24 reads:

More than 6 million witnesses of Jehovah are now busy in over 230 lands. The February 1, 2005 issue of The Watchtower will carry the annual report of their activity during the 2004 service year. That report will demonstrate Jehovah's rich blessing on the preaching work. In the time that remains for this system of things, may we continue to take to heart Paul's stirring words: "Preach the word, be at it urgently." May we continue to give a thorough witness until Jehovah says that the work is finished.

Of course, Jehovah is never going to say that "the work is finished" as he never even authorised this work in the first place. Seriously though, does anyone know why the Society would move the date of the annual report to February?

It's not a real biggie I know, but any break from tradition usually has deeper implications for the Watchtower, such as phasing out all US magazine subscriptions.

At least, they expect this system of things to remain a month longer so that they can publish their report.

Well, it seems that the Witnesses haven't reached or passed the 7 million mark yet.

I was talking to a dub about it, and he thinks it is because of the way the Society now ships the literature. Since it takes extra time to ship the literature to the assembly halls, then a brother from each hall has to go pick up the literature, and distribute it to the congregation, that the Society has been making up the lag in time by printing the magazines earlier, thus the delay from January 1 to February 1. Does that make any sense?

On the surface one might think that the Society was just late getting the data together, and decided to hold it up. It does seem strange, however, that this would make any difference, since the data is collected by the end of September-October to correspond with the Service year. So, something funny may be afoot. Who knows what can come out of their organization?

Remember, Jehovah's Witnesses are conditioned to get excited about very small things, such as the major change resulting in reading the paragraph before or after the discussion period ... or qualifications to carry microphones. They treat such things as Jehovah's spirit direction deep in this time of the end. So, whatever it is, I am sure that posting the annual report in February will be a major adjustment in understanding, resulting from the progressive forward-moving spirit-directed organization. And, some major event will happen that protect them and proves how Jehovah was belssing them.

Maybe Arthur Anderson are their auditor of official statistics? After all they want to get the figures correct with a view to Jehovahs spirit being upon the organisation
