I don't know if there's any actualy evidence that their management actively encouraged the countdowns, or whether this is just idle rumour.

Unless this is true, quite how them trying to continue their career past adolescence seems to justify talking about them like sex performers I don't know.

It seems the consensus of opinion is that it's okay to talk about young women in a sexually degrading fashion as long as they are well-known and rich, even if they are only children's entertainers, as distinct from porn stars.

Of course, no one's said they'd be happy to hear their own daughters spoken about in a similar fashion by their neighbours, nor has anyone said that such a comment is so innocuous they'd pass it in front of the father of the girls they were talking about.

Long live double standards and god bless all who may sail in them, eh?

One or two actually succeeded in catching me.

Avishai, that one made me laugh!

I haven't read all of the posts on this thread, mainly because as the mother of a 10-year-old girl I've seen more of the Olson twins than I've ever wanted to see in my lifetime. Their acting has marginally improved over the years, and I know my daughter (and sometimes Jackson too, though he usually runs screaming from the room when Jennie pops one of their movies on) thinks they're absolutely wonderful. As a former child I can see why. As an adult they drive me totally nuts.

As for the subject matter, hey, the girls are getting quite gorgeous and I can understand guys wanting to look on them as sexual objects. As the mother of a future Legal Female, I'm noting all of this so I can educate my daughter about what most men are thinking when she walks by. Big Tex is doing the same and sharpening the kitchen knives.

Here in Texas we just had a horrible tragedy take place. A couple -- she was 21 and he was 30 -- had a serious argument and he drove her 15 miles north to a high overpass and threw her over, 85 feet down, to her death, then jumped after her. He had problems controlling his temper, y'know? BUT (and here's the point of my story) they MET and started DATING when she was 15 and he was 24!!! Her family, who is from Guatamala, allowed it because he bought her things, gave her a car and clothes and money and a place to live, and that is accepted practice in that culture for older men to take care of younger women.

All I can say, as an American mother, is that if any 24-year-old started sniffing around my 15-year-old daughter, I'd sic Big Tex AND Valis on him. The bassets could eat any evidence that was left.

As for the Olson twins, I hope they make "good choices" (quote from "Freaky Friday") in their lives and use their beauty, money and (marginal) acting talents wisely.

I would start a corresponding thread about Aaron Carter, but Jennie and I both think he's WAY overrated as a sex object. I just don't see what Hilary Duff and Lindsey Lohan were fighting about.

    Poor elsewhere,

Haven't had the chance to read all of the replies, but you obviously stirred a few with your observations.

To quote the Sydney Morning herald at the time of the girls 'becoming of age' - "The twins are the objects of fantasy for both six year old girls and fifty year old men". No doubt for different reasons.

This reminds me of a joke which was applied to the ultra thin model from the sixties named Twiggie, and which could possibly apply to the skinny Olson twin -

What is the difference between Twiggie and a counterfeit one dollar bill? Answer -

One is a phoney buck, and the other is a boney fcuk.

    cheeses. for the love of.
