What part of men 'celebrating' girls turning 18 doesn't smack of being really really tacky Elsewhere?
Of course, you're not speaking for yourself in any way at all what-so-ever, you just happen to know when their birthday is and pass comment on it in a light-hearted and frivolous way as though it were utterly normal.
Oh, when you react (if you do), please tell me whether you'd high-five your neighbour and congratulate him when his daughter becomes old enough for laws about statutory rape not to apply. I don't think you would, and if you did, I think you'd find your testicles would go straight through the top of your head, but maybe you think it is okay to do it because they're celebrities?
It's just typical of the way young women are treated by much of Western society today.
It seems young women are expected to go from fragile asexuals whom only the lowest of the low would target or lust after to wank-fodder and potential sexual conquests in one day.
On one hand many people make every effort to make sexual education appalingly limited and useless. On the other hand they expect (or fantasize) that at 18 they are sexual adults who can be spoken about in the same was as a mare that's reached breeding age.
What a load of offensive misogynistic rubbish.
Seems the sexual revolution began and ended with it being easier for guys to get laid without there being a high liklihood of ensuing life-long responsibility.
Wouldn't it be nice if people accepted ;
- that people develop sexually over about half-a-dozen years, not suddenly on a specific day
- that teaching them about it to the extent they have enough information to delay sexual activity with others with confidence is a good idea
- that teaching them how their own bodies work sexually can not only help them cope with delaying sexual activities with others (yes, teenagers get horny too) but can also make it really clear what 'inappropriate touching' is and thus help defend them against abuse
- that at some point teenagers will have sex with someone else, and that this is natural and (if they are sexually educated and have access to contraception) pretty harmless, but that it's best in today's society if they do so with another teenager
- that even though young people can be awsomely asthetically attractive (for all sort of obvious instinctive biological reasons I can explain if anyone gives a toss), it's utterly tacky for adults to sexualise their attractiveness as this is the 21st Century not a neolithic hunter-gatherer band or village in the Middle Ages where young women are expected to start breeding at menarche as they'll be dead in their late twenties
