unsual for most people, but I do like it very much:

"Snert" = a rather thick Dutch peasoup with some mustard (moutarde)

Most of the time I have to eat it alone. I make it in the cold season and keep a lot in the fridge.

A hobby of mine is finding and eating "wild' foods. I refuse to put poison on my lawn, I love for instance to eat dandylions...The flowers and leaves when young are very good in salads, the roots boiled are like parsnips, dried and ground can be used like coffee. The flowers can be femented and make the famous Dandylion Wine.

Another good "weed" is "Bull Nettle", a stinging nettle that can grow 2 -3 feet tall, it has white flowers with an edible nut. Carefully gather the spine covered leaves with kitchen shears and tongs...be careful ~ the hollow glass-like spines contain a venom-like volatile poison ! As soon as you drop them in boiling water -- the spines and poison vanish! The taste is nutty and buttery, close to spinach. It it extremely high in Vitamin C & A...good stuff !

    There are many more...
