People will not agree with my above post, but jws have been around for 140 years.

No they haven't. JF Rutherford started the Jehovah's Witnesses in 1931. The Bible Students founded by CT Russell still exist today and regard Rutherford as the apostate he most certainly is/was.

    Who is Howie Tran???

Howie Tran (now Rutledge Tran) was a personal helper to one of the governing body members. A great interview here:

    PE,

Ok jws have been around for 90 something years. Experience has taught them that putting stuff in writing protects against people who lie and make stuff up.

I watched a little of this in different parts very interesting. Also I looked him up and he definitely could tell you all the skeletons in the closet back in the day

GB Anthony Morris always gives a clear example of avowed poverty, but his pants are never tight and thank god for that.

He sets a true example that wouldn't stumble all the other brothers who are at Bethel.

Special pioneers also fall into this "special order". Virtually every one I've known also has a part-time job to supplement the rather meager monthly stipend.

And it used to be, maybe still is, that lots of Bethelites do odd jobs on evenings / weekends.

How do they get away with earning money when, based on the contract shown here, it is supposed to be forbidden?

    What sort of lies?

    PE,

Basically what I am saying is that putting stuff in writing projects them from frivolous lawsuits. It also prevents WT from reneging on their obligations if the applicant is not in breach.

    This is just basic stuff.

    Love the irony.

People who lie and make stuff up ("since 1879 the Watchtower has pointed to 1914 as the start of Christ's presence...the generation is evidently made up of two overlapping groups...")

    ...need protection from....

...people who lie and make stuff up.

You should be writing for SNL.
