I declined when asked by elders many months ago. Have not been asked again.

It all depends on what kind of a 'body of elders' is in your cong. Some could be real jerks when you turn down "privileges".

    Good luck!🙄

Some let you bring your bear on cart duty in Europe

Do more people talk to you?

Your answer is in your initial OP

How do others beg off as you described?

    Do that

    What's the problem?

I think skepsis is Male? @steve2

When it comes to being in the presence of handsome men, gender is irrelevant but appreciation of beauty is.

On the topic of ways to get out of doing the cart work, simply say that you cannot do it, but you know of a truckload of apostates who would love to man the trolleys for JW organization. Count me in - but I go back to that requirement about any JW male accompanying me would need to be handsome. Contrary to appearances, I do have my standards.

    Hey Steve,

Do you think if Skeptis waved and called out to handsome men

it might get him off cart duty,

(If he got any interest he could just read them scriptures about gloom and

    destruction)

    Again PROBLEM SOLVED

@tepidpoultry, in the case of beards I haven't seen a male with a beard in the carts yet but I've seen brothers doing the microphones wearing beards or having parts in the meetings.

But, in the same kingdom hall there is one congregation allowing it, the other being completely intolerant.

In the my case, serving in a foreign-language congregation, aa there are congregations in other parts of my country where there are a lot of brothers from Central Europe, you can easily see brothers with beards giving talks at assemblies.

It's a recent trend here, I guess having a PM with a beard, a King that sometimes appear with a beard and many respected personalities with it in the last years plus the influence of neighbour European countries where it's a common thing have influenced elders in some congos.

But some years ago, the American rule of no beards allowed was the norm in all congos.

    @Skepsis

    You typed "bear", not "beard".

That is why Tepid and I posted our silly comments.

    @skeptis

    Cheers,

Thank you for the update on beards in Europe,

For me there came to be the time to make a clean break

I just figured I'd fade down to one hour a month with minimal

    meeting attendance

I tried that then figured that I just needed more faith

So I did my best again

    But that didn't sit right

For ministry it's ok if it means driving around in a car group doing nothing

But for me, if I'm conducting Studies and such I can't tell them partial

    truths

    That amounts to fraud

    More so from the platform

"With great power comes great responsibility"

I don't believe there's a painless way to leave this religion

I lost my wife, adult children, grandchildren

That's the carnage that comes from this religion

    It's very painful

Some stay "in" for that reason, a kind of virtual prison

Others just accept the pain as a necessary part of their lives

    I couldn'the live a lie anymore

You can always say no, and there will be consequences.

You can always say yes, and there will be different consequences to you. :)

UPDATED: I have declined being in the carts from next month as I'll be busy on Saturdays. Didn't give more details, just saying I'll be very busy all Saturdays.

Another step in my fading. I hated doing the carts, even when I believed all of this so I'm quite relieved. I also told the elders I'm not preaching during the week as I'm working long hours and can't go to the KH at time to attend meetings for field service.

An elder asked me to preach later but I rejected and told him "I'm finishing really late". I'll be in Field Service only on Sunday and only some of them.
