Cessation of printing is a foregone conclusion as the world moves more and more toward the digital. The issue really is the claim that they would essentially shut down the religion. Thats the nonsense. The first rule of power is that those who have it wont give it up.

Perhaps at last it's "harvest time". . . Time to realise the value of all that hard work and money spent by the congregations on kingdom halls. Realise the assets, pay off all of the lawsuits and from what is left pay severance for the management. What do you think a golden handshake should be for a governing body member?

I definitely think the printing will continue to be reduced. Just have people download everything and charge them the infamous "suggested contribution" via credit/debit card. Or you enter your congregation number when downloading and the congregation is "charged" for it. This in turn, is added to the congregation's monthly remittance to the Society.

Any hard copies of anything must be special ordered.

What the GB do and say is as irrelevant and unimportant as anything the President of Tajikistan (to pick a minor nation out of my brain) does or says.

I think that its highly unlikely the the GB originated such a comment because when you think about it ... it's really a statement of defeat. Yet I suppose, most witnesses would read it as if "Armageddon must be coming within 10 years" due to their excessive wishful thinking.
