I think Slim has been abducted by aliens.

    They'll bring him back.

And I wish they would hurry up - I like hearing his point of view on things.

Theres probably a lot of troof in the story...the watchtower bean counters know that the money will have run out by then...if not before..in fact..any day soon..just kind the corner.

Regarding Slim...didn't he say last time he had finally found the right cult?...or was that a typing error.?

    The GB planning for retirement?

They know they can't pull any more dates out the Bible so they are starting their own fade but with enough time to accumulate sufficient funding to last long enough they can maintain the lifestyle to which they have grown accustomed.

Here's some predictions: "It's likely that the dratics cutbacks in printing will continue until they attain 100% digital publishing. Their televangelism will continue increasing, and the need for meetings in physical buildings will decline. Any future NuLiteĀ® will be regurgitated reincarnation from the past 150 years."

Not much to predict really, is there? They already reduced Watchtower from 24 issues per year (32 pages) to 3 per year (16 pages), with a looped set of repeating articles. Kingdom Hall sell-offs, reducing attendance, more pre-recorded video content played at the meetings, older demographic who are increasingly house-bound, cheaper and more effective mind controlled content streamed over TV/Internet. Money possibly to come from legally enforceable membership fees. Enough NuLiteĀ® content to simply keep rinse/repeat cycle.

So, I don't see the original comment on this post as a "prediction", but more of an OBVIOUS OBSERVATION that even the most basic analysis would reveal. 10 years sound like the maximum for this transformation to be completed.

The Society will never ditch meetings. Without meetings , the Org ceases to exist , essentially.

But the conversion from a printing organisation to a building & property trading and flipping organisation as the prime way to finance the Org funds is already ongoing. Printing magazines and tracts that are given away for free and that hardly anybody reads just doesn't make financial sense any more and the Bethel bean counters know this well.

Yup their ten year plan is to retire after stopping printing literature and having meetings, then moving somewhere tropical with all the wealth they've amassed by then from selling off the kingdom halls and then leaving jws to fend for themselves and come to the realisation they were conned. Great plan!

The organization is all about control from the top.

    They won't give that up.

Leaving it to JWs to witness without supervisory control would end the field ministry.

Rumors are just that - rumors. I don't believe this one. However, I could see the Watchtower ceasing all printing of literature and selling off all the factory properties. I could see all future literature only being available digitally or for download and then the individual can print it himself. I could see a "recommended contribution" button next to each digital download with a credit card entered into the user account. That way every time an account holder downloads the latest literature money will automatically be sent.

What leads me to believe this is what we have already seen. I could have never imagined back in my early 20s when I was an uber dub that I would see -

    • Fewer magazines being published
    • Reduced size of magazines
    • Consolidation of meetings with Book Studies in private homes going away
    • JW.org
    • Headquarters moving from NYC to the cult compound
