It's very simple dubla, even an Am ... well, anyone can understand. *

I would be happy to have a limit to the discussions on topics such as the war. I proposed that some time ago and got the usual bitch about freedom of speech. I tried to limit the in-your-face stuff on both sides and got blasted for my trouble. The complaints about stopping things mainly came from pro-war people who seemed to be in their element with the war in full swing. Now it seems they are less inclined to want to talk about it.

What I'm not going to do is let everyone else discuss what they want and ban myself only from talking about it !

Either we allow discussions (in which case, people should stop bitching) or we don't (in which case, people shouldn't bitch about not being allowed to say things). We can't have half and half though which is what some people seem to want where the other side are banned from replying.

    * I was of course going to say "Amish" (I'm safe with them, they're not online )

There has been an excess of anti-American threads on this site. That is an indisputable fact and has caused me some serious concerns. There are several people here, mainly Brits, who do not miss a trick when it comes to taking a swipe at the Americans. I think that it's time that it stopped. It died down a couple of weeks ago and now it's suddenly starting up again. It's gross bad manners to repeatedly find fault with someone else's country no matter how cleverly disguised that criticism might be.

    ENOUGH!

    Simon,

I think in past threads things/posts got out of hand. You said so kinda didn't ya? So on that, cut bait and move on is how I see it. That does not mean that topics can't ever be discussed again that's probably not possible. EX went off yes, but it was global "lefties," KGB Started with Canadians and made it personal to him an attack on his character. That is where things get stinky. It's what you should not see come from my corner post "bait cutting." If people want to just call names or just start threads of propaganda then so be it. But I will keep putting up UN stats and other sources above titilating bias news bites. It's sad that they are ignored. As I said origionally about the Middle East, "There Are No Angles Here."

KGB about your comments on President Bush's IQ I found this interesting,

Is your plan to impeach Bush a secret? Oh, and although congress was moving to impeach Nixon it did not happen. He resigned in disgrace to avoid it.

Mark, I think we all know that the troops aren't going anywhere and the Saddam loyalists along with foriegn fighters (some state sponsered) have no where else to go. The embassy in Kenya, the USS Cole, these terror attack were happening before the current President took office. Saddam fought/defied the US/UN through four presidencies. Bush just gets credit for taking the SOB out. It just as easy could have been Gore.

I disagree about the 'anti-american' threads Mike ... there have been an equal number of rah rah we're american, might is right' ones. Perhaps it depends on our opinion and we all see what we want to see and comments we agree with don't raise a flag in quite the same way.

I'm more than happy to have these topics limited but it will go for all sides and I'm not going to put up with any complaints about it.

    Englishman,

I think this moderator bit has gone to your head! LOL

You've fell into the same trap as others by labelling things anti-american when they clearly aren't. The only peaople who call them that are those who don't agree with the thread and instead of discussing it they bring out the old 'anti-american' rubbish.

    Also,

How is it anti-american when i'm talking about the British troops and the British government too?

    Is that Anti-British?

well you see search, because the UK government supports the US, then to criticise them is to indirectly criticise the US government, which equals anti-americanism.

    Aha, 3 onto 1, eh?

Well, that's all in my favour, I normally do battle with a whole website over at Dan's.

I don't mind at all if you disagree with me. Personally, I don't like it when foreigners point out to me what's wrong with my country, even if they happen to be correct in their assessment. It really pisses me off actually. I just assumed that the Americans would probably feel the same way if they had too much of it from the Brits. Even when the assessment is accurate.

I'm talking degrees and discretion here, not hard and fast rules.

I reckon we all criticise Wales.

Then only Angharad will have a go at us!

What is it with the silly little red dragon on the flag, and the road signs in Welsh that no-one understands and that by the time you've read the welsh, the English for sharp bend is too late...don't understand it myself.
