Should the Troops be Pulled out of Iraq?

I think the forum has gone a bit soft and fluffy since I went on holiday so lets have a go at this one....

Over the last few weeks the US and British troops have come under fire from the Iraqi's. Every day there are more stories of grenade, RPG and sniper attacks. The largest loss for the British was a group of Military Policemen killed when they were isolated inside an Iraqi police station.

The idea that the allied force was a liberating force seems to be lost on the Iraqi's (and most of the rest of the world too) and they are resisting against what they percieve as an aggressive occupying force.

Many Iraqis still have no power and water.

    Iraqi doubts about liberators

Iraqis watch as US soldiers go on high alert after gunshots are heard in Baghdad Iraqi patience with the coalition administration is running thin
President George W Bush's declaration that the United States is preparing for a "massive and long-term undertaking" in Iraq will have confirmed the fears of many in Baghdad - that the US is establishing itself as a force for occupation, not liberation.

So what do you think should happen? Should the troops be pulled out before anymore of them are killed, or is it too far gone for that?

The US promised to rebuild Iraq, but while the oil is flowing nicely, the rest of the infrastructure has been left to rot.

The troops should never have gone in, IMO. Now that they're there, however...

They've grabbed a rabid pit bull by the tail. Hard to safely let it go.

    Teejay,

This tread won't get locked because we're all going to discuss it properly and not break any of the guidelines.........

Of course the troops shouldn't have gone in, and I think the governments are under pressure for putting them in, none more so than the British government and especially Tony Blair.

There have been parliamentary questions this week which have exposed the Iraq Dossier as a fabrication and exposed Alastair Campbell, Tony Blairs press secretary as the one who 'sexed up' the dossier to include the 45 minute warning.

Jack Straw, under questioning the next day then dropped Campbell in it big time by admitting that the original dossier didn't include this warning.

I think it's too late to back out .They said they would be there long enough to rebuild Iraq. I think that after all this bs over the last 10 years + that they need to just end the whole thing with this invasion . I don't support what's going on at all but realize the politics involved require a permanent solution .

This is a sore sugject for me so I will try to take this calmly as I think Bush is more of a Dictator than a president. We had no buisness being there in the first place as every single reason that was given us for the purpose of going has been ruled illicit. There are no weapons of mass destruction, The UN security Council stated last week that there are no proof of Al Quaida ties in Iraq either. We have been lied too and decieved in the worst way by the Bush Administration. But we did go there and they did kill many and I might add many innocent women and children too. Saddam is still alive, so if we did leave now you all know as well as I that Saddam would indeed retake power. I don't think Saddam should have it now that we took it but at the same time life was much better for the Iraqies when he was in power than it is now. Now that the Bush Administration has there oil nothing else really matters does it ? If we here in the great ol USA lost our power they would have it up and running in a matter of days, but Bush really does'nt give a rats arse about the Iraqi people and he really does not give a rats arse about you and I either. He only cares about what goes into his pocket.

Now I expect many of you to rip me in two for saying these things but thats ok because its not going to change my thoughts. I believe in Government but I do not believe in or support a government who is dirty, evil, and a liar.

I read in the paper the other day that Bush Junior has the lowest IQ than any president in history and that his father has the second lowest, now I am not praising this one but guess who has the highest IQ ? Believe it or not but it is Clinton. Gee could that be why we had the lowest defecit ever in history and our economy was the richest it had ever been? I don't know but it makes me wonder. I will close with this if we stand and allow Bush to make president again in 2004 then this country deserves all we get......Which I do not think will be very nice. I think he will lead us into a tragedy that we have never seen before...

    KGB,

You probably will get attacked for that...but not by me, totally agree with you.

The British government are coming under heavy fire at the moment because Blair followed Bush into an aggressive war, and dreaming up evidence which didn't even convince people at the time.

There have been staged wars etc down through the years but this one has been planned very poorly and people can see thruogh the lies and deception.

    KGB,

To be honest, I think that most of the people who aggressively opposed what we were saying before the war, are now coming to realise that we weren't all talking complete nonsense after all.

Even the media, especially in Britain are asking very difficult questions of the government, the same questions we were asking months ago.

The US is at a point now where they can't pull the troops out without saving face. They were the ones that built a case to go to war and went against the UN on the so-called Weapons of Mass Disappearance. This will prove to be GW Bush's, Vietnam.... Oops a dirty word.
