I am getting new appliances. I have decided on Black Stainless for the finish. The house is stubbed for gas and electric for the range. What is your opinion? Gas better?

Gas is much better for being able to adjust with real time feedback on how hot your flame is.

If you can get past the concern for any gas issues (get a carbon monoxide alarm) I vote for gas. Easily controlled heat.... when it's on high it's high, low is low. I changed from electric a number of years ago and won't go back.

Gas -- all great chefs cook with gas.
Black stainless -- perfect! Love stainless steel and it's the best.

I have always had electric with the smooth glass tops. But I am leaning towards gas, also a double convection oven :-)

gas. when the power goes off you can still cook or boil water for a coffee.

Smooth glass electric = minimal control
Gas = maximum control
