They signed up to the UN apparently under the guise to use their library which is public domain so it was totally unnecessary.

The Henrietta M Riley Trust for which the WT is beneficiary and where that trust invest money which then benefits the WT

This one to me is key because God IS love. He loved the world so much he gave his only begotten son so that all those exercising faith in him could be saved. Jesus said in John 13:35 “By this all will know that you are my disciples—if you have love among yourselves” What are JWs known for? Door knocking, disfellowshipping (so the opposite of love), not birthdays and letting our kids die because of no blood. Only the WT will propagate that we are known for the love amongst ourselves but google JWs and you will see what the world knows. And what do people mention when we say we are JWs? Exactly, nothing to do with how loving we are.

    The UN on its Library:

”The Library is not open to the general public”.

    It’s actually worse than that

To qualify, organisations must show that they share the ideals of the charter, operate on a non-profit basis, "demonstrate interest in UN issues and proven ability to reach large or specialised audiences" and have the commitment and means to conduct effective information programmes about UN activities.”

Doubter, you're link only further proves the point as to how ridiculous of an excuse to join the UN for a library pass was in the first place.

They could have used the internet or any nearby depository that had access to all the information the UN had. Joining the UN is a slap in the face to every kid that went to school and maintained a neutral stance.

WTBTS betrayed their flock and their God by being affiliated with the UN!

I've read you're history of posts and you belong with the hypocrites you serve!

Dude, they “joined” the UN in 1992, right?

Where was the intenet back then?

What “nearby depository” would you have suggested they used back in 1992?

Before Doubter attempts to hijack this thread, I'd like to put this out there for any possible lurkers regarding the UN scandal:

-"Library access" is not an acceptable excuse for Watchtower to break it's own rules. Any individual JW doing the same would have been reprimanded. The double standard is obvious.

-The UN affiliation was only revoked due to media publicity. If a Witness confesses only after their sin is public knowledge there is high probability elders will not see their confession as a sign of repentance

-If a Witness can be disassociated for membership with political organizations, the same standard should apply to the Watchtower Society

If you look it up like I did just now. Nealy every state university has one . Including New York university & New York public library. Hell even Arkansas has one at UA!

But maybe you're right maybe it was too far to be expected to go an additional 4 or 5 miles to maintain their Christian neutrality. We expect to much I guess.

Meanwhile they can sell a kh that we helped build and pay for and maintain . And they expect us to drive an additional 30 miles to the smoke and mirror show.

Gas was 70 cents or so a gallon in 1992 but 3.00 a gallon now .such love they have pffffft!

By the way how have they been able to cope without the library since they shut it down?

It doesn't matter since all NGO's have to agree with the UN charter upon signing up to become a NGO.

The WTS for decades said the UN is Babylon The Great a worldly organization.

    Condemned it numerous times.

What we are taking about here is hypocrisy at its fullest.

The WTS also join the OBSE which is a European equivalent to the UN, another government sponsored worldly organization.

WTS secretly joined the UN as an NGO quietly through the back door, once its was openly disclosed what it(they) did they stopped registering.
