Enjoyed the Memorial

Probably not a popular opinion on here....and haven't been actively attending meetings since 1988....(I know I know a submarine attender) however thoroughly enjoyed attending this evening...was good to see lots of people I remember whilst growing up in this faith, they were genuine and the whole atmosphere was one of love. Sure if I suddenly wanted to become active again and didn't change my lifestyle they would drop me like a bomb.....however I haven't and won't and they didn't and don't. This works for me.

I cannot demonize the Witnesses on what I have seen tonight. They have chosen their path. I have chosen mine. And Iwish them well.

No one asks you to demonize them. We ask you to see through them.

I am glad you enjoyed your love-bombing. It is genuine in a way. They really do wish you would abandon all else and come back to their self-imposed prison. I am confident I would get the same treatment if I went.

I also don't hold anything against them when they cannot attempt to "love" me by inviting me out to coffee or lunch if they miss me so much. They are in a cult. It's in their reprogramming.

Glad you enjoyed seeing some old friends.

John....I didn't suggest anyone did. You inferred tho.

Thanks OTWO.....I'm old enough and wise enough now to recognise which is genuine and which is not. That old apostate 'love bombing'......please.

    That old apostate 'love bombing'......please.

Oh, I said it is genuine in a way. It can be from the heart. They genuinely miss you and genuinely want you to abandon all else and come back, but might think it's too pushy to say all that so they hope just the "We miss you" part is sufficient.

Love bombing is an attempt to influence a person by demonstrations of attention and affection. With already close people, it can further be defined as an intense atmosphere of affection and adoration designed to disarm an individual's natural guardedness. You can't be mad at them if they are going out of their way to show love. There's no reason it cannot be from people who really care about you. But see if they, now that they saw you, call to invite you to that lunch.

Thanks OTWO.....and for the definition. Its just that when that term is used on here it it used as if 'a trap' to get people in to some sinister organisation..(which may of you I'm sure concur) I don't.

I didn't feel that, and I don't feel anything sinister. These were loving people who I remember growing up and many I don't. I think I was recognised as probably a lost sheep from 30 years ago, but they were genuine, and they were loving. Even if I am not about to return to the fold. I do recognise fakes.

Don't be a fool. If you are not trolling us you are very naive to think you were getting anything but BS to suck you back in. There is no "genuine love" in the cult. Its conditional love at best and a recruitment tactic at worst. I bet if you were around the Manson family you would say the same thing. Think for a min.

  • ScottyRex

oh longday……. you sum exactly what I am trying to say. Perfectly.

    Hi ScottyRex

Just coz it works for you, think about all of the broken families, victims of child abuse and the trail of destruction that this religion leaves in so many lives.

I think you are talking about the poor victims (who are still in) and perhaps you saw them and realized there are a lot of good people, however when you are talking about the religion as an organization, I can see no good only harm, and division.

I am out and not DF'd. I still see my family but I can also see the affect on their thinking ability and manipulation.

Even xmas services are happy and full of good cheer. Its the next Sunday that the daggers come out as they grill you about "where have you been"?

Scotty, you can see through it but the lurkers may not.

To those trying to leave the cult, stay away from Kingdom Halls. Even old friends are ultimately going to judge you. Scotty may have had a good time, that's cool. He's educated about the BS and can slide in and out without damage. If you're trying to fade and don't have to go, DON'T.
