What if the US loses?

Dearest Mary... may you have peace... and may I say to your comment that:

Bush will use every weapon he's got before he surrenders to those assholes...

might be the very same position of Saddam Hussein with regard to "us," yes? What I mean to say, is that the US/Bush is the AN-tagonist here... such that "surrender" would not be so much an option for "us"... as many appear to think it MUST be for Hussein/Iraq.

May I also say that IF Bush uses "every weapon he's got"... which, I might add, could be pretty substantial, why are those who ALSO wish to use "every weapon [they've] got" against an attack by Bush/US such a "bad" thing?

I am sorry, but on its face, I find your statement quite hypocritical... and your position VERY unloving! "We" ASSUME that Hussein and his little country has done something worthy of an attack... but such worthiness has yet to be PROVEN. But... ah, yes... no matter... he LOOKS like he MIGHT do something... and apparently, for some, that's enough.

Heck! Why don't all of us "righteous" folks just go on out there and round up everybody who LOOKS like they MIGHT commit some kind of crime or atrocity BEFORE they do it! That would indeed save lives, wouldn't it? I mean, Tim McVeigh LOOKED like he was gonna blow up the Murrah building, didn't he, and that's the VERY reason why every first suspect looked as NON-American as one possible could, isn't it? Don't all criminals LOOK like criminals?

"We" (okay, Powell) say Hussein is a threat because he hasn't "come clean" about what he has or does not have. I ask you: if YOU were being threatened by a rather large bully to get rid of all the rocks in YOUR pocket or he's gonna come and TAKE 'em outta your pocket, would YOU? Better yet, if you did, so that when he actually looked in your pockets he wouldn't find your means to defend yourself against him... would you actually TELL him where you put them?!

Let's be real. Let's TRULY understand the "ways of the world", which is to understand the severely vulnerable position Iraq WOULD be in IF they completely disarmed, as well as revealed where whatever little bit of protection they had left was hidden! What country trying to exist in today's world could even imagine to survive if they did so, given that they ALSO possessed a VERY desirable commodity, coveted to the nth degree by a much larger force? Honey, contrary to popular belief... we... mankind... are not THAT civilized! Contrary to popular belief, not EVERY "conquerer" has passed off the scene: there are still Attilas, Adolfs, Alexanders, Ghenghis, and Kublai Khans living and breathing today. And not ALL of them fight "fair", but some still believe that ALL is fair... in war... even innocent casualties. And... they are NOT all Muslim!

IF the US is such a "superpower"... such a mighty military force... what fear do they have of ANY other power in the world? Supposedly Bin Laden brought down the WTC. Why the attention, then, on Hussein?

(Shaking head) The arrogance of the US never ceases to amaze me: "WE" can have as large an army and as great an arsenal as "WE" choose. But, let no others have even a fraction. I ask you: was EVERY AMERICAN forced to disarm after Timothy McVeigh brought down the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City? Where was the "threat of war"... and UN intervention... then? Are we any more "safe" from within... than we are from without?

Get a clue. Please. Like it or not, the WTC debacle was the result of US "doings" all over the world for some time. It is QUITE unfortunate that NONE of the "major" players, including US players, have one iota of consideration for the "casualties" of such wars... the INNOCENT people who pay... while our "fearless leader(s)" sit high in their ivory towers.

The ONLY way I would let someone I loved participate in Bush's war... was if he was at the front line, leading the pack himself. Like any self-respecting "king" would do!

Again, I bid you peace... and that from a TRUTHFUL heart...

SJ, a mother... and a slave of Christ who truly cannot even stand the possibility of another so UN-Godly an attack made with the misleading rhetoric of God being on ANY side of it, whatsoever, by some of THE most UN-Godless folks on earth, as there is NOTHING "righteous" in ANY of it, whatsoever!

i dont worry about losing a war with Iraq, but what if allies turn against "us", what if other Arab nations, try to help out Iraq, what if north Korea decides to use its nukes to make a statment and hits Japan, this thing could, however unlikley, grow into another world war.

and then Amegeddon would come and all my apostate friends would be destroyed....thats what i worry about

    "who made America the boss?"

I don't think Sept. 11th made us 'boss', but it made us realize that we have enemies that wouldn't think twice about destroying our Country (and family and friends).... I also don't think it is unreasonable to get to the enemy BEFORE they get to us..... and as far as the rest of the world, when they have two large buildings and planeloads of innocent people murdered by fanatics then they have a place to talk (IMO).

To respond to Rodbars question; if in the highly unlikely event France and Germany side with Iraq in this war we still wouldnt lose. Compared to Americas armies b oth of their armies are smaller, not as well equipped or trained, their air forces and navies couldnt stand up to Americas for more than a day.

There are countries that America could not easily overthrow (China for example), but there are no countries that could come close to overthrowing America either. Also no county in existence today that could begin to encroach on America's dominance of the Sea, and Air.

It would be very unlikely that could lose this war.

Will this war be as clear-cut as the gulf war?

If Bush's intentions are to overthrow Sadam then US troops will need to occupy Iraq or else risk chaos in the region. If that were to happen it is possible that Iraq would turn into another Palestine or Northern Ireland. Can you imagine the effect of decades of such a "war"?

America's allies would not fight against her without clear and absolute request from the UN. I don't think Bush would ever make the US do anything that would lead to such an event. As for the comment that America "will do what it needs to do" it is exactly the sort of arrogant self-interest that angers the rest of the world. The rest of the world likely remember Hitler saying much the same thing as he sent his troops into Poland in 1939 effectively starting world war 2.

Seriously though, I can't see Iraq losing............Saddam will use every weapon he's got before he surrenders to those assholes.

Saddam has a big mouth, he bragged before the first Gulf war, too. But, in reality, he is a backwater, tinpot dictator. His only "weapons" are human shields, his brainwashed citizenry. And he shoots down a spy plane here or there to appear tough.

North Korea, however, is a much greater force to be reckoned with. And relations with China in that mess are crucial now, for future turns of events, in my opinion.

We're not going to lose militarily but why is it that that is all people can see. What we will lose is our fake moral high ground. After this war anyone who attacks us is justified. All they need to say is that they percieve us as a threat. They can say, "They have weapons of mass destruction and have used them. They have pre-emptively struck other nations. We viewed them as a threat and acted accordingly."

Bush just loves to wave his cock at the rest of the world and really believe he doesn't care about the average American.

We wont lose, it will be over quickly. The long term situation hasnt been laid out yet tho. Hopefully we drop all support for other countries, if we drop support of one.

The Europian countries running their mouths, badmouthing the USA, should be aware that we support them also with lax trade agreements. It wouldnt take much for us to stop buying french wine, or whatever shit the germans make and sell here. I have to assume the USA is a big customer...

One nice thing tho... all the traitors in this country will have nice places to move to. I assume France and Germany are nice places to live, with all that Socialism spueing out.

: What if we lose the war with Iraq?

The war with Iraq will last about ten minutes. TOPS! Unlike Vietnam and Korea, IRAQ is flat, weather won't be a problem and there is no where for the Iraqi army to hide. We had missiles in the 1991 War with Iraq that were accurate to within yards. Now they're accurate to within inches.

They couldn't knock out our aircraft in 1991 and they can't now. By the time they are softened up with our sorties, the Iraq army will be surrendering in droves to our drone aircraft, just like they did in 1991. Maybe they'll even try to surrender to lampposts, because they'll be scared crapless.

Our M1A Abrams tanks used in the Gulf War could easily stay out of reach of Iraq tank's firing ranges in the 1991 war and lob volley after volley at them. They could do it at night with their night-vision gear. Many Iraqi soldiers died as a result without ever knowing what hit them.

They're so scared that Turaq Aziz went begging to the Catholic Pope for help!

I would guess that most of our casualties will be from friendly fire, unfortunately.

Iraq doesn't stand a chance. None.
