Outlaw Jehovah is the hebrew latin version of the name Yahweh. What is so hard to understand? - Outlaw's not denying that, he's correctly pointing out that 'Jehovah' was coined by a Roman Catholic monk in the Middle Ages.

Latin was used extensively at that time.

Never a jw A lot of stuff said from the article aren't even prophecies. I don't know everything but yes Jehovah did tell Adam upon eating the fruit he would die. Obviously he didn't mean that exact day or his goal of getting the earth inhabited wouldn't happen.

Another says Cain was a fugitive but still had a good life. You do realize Jehovah gave Cain some kind of mark that if anyone struck down Cain they would receive punishment.

Loveunihateexams The Bible says love everyone and so JW do. It does not matter who translated the name.

The Bible says love everyone and so JW do - that's debatable. Jesus of the NT seemed to preach love and forgiveness. The same can't be said of YHWH and lots of his followers.

And do JWs really love everyone?

Haven't you read the experiences of any of the shunned posters on this forum?

It does not matter who translated the name - again, debatable. A Catholic monk came up with the name 'Jehovah'.

Are you aware of how anti-Catholic the Watchtower Society has been throughout its 130 year history? Rutherford, Knorr and Fred Franz all hated the Catholic church, and made no secret of this.

At least you've joined this forum, A Believer.

Stick around, you just might learn something ...

A Believer, let me simplify what Outlaw is trying to teach you. He is showing you that the 'name' JEHOVAH is made up! The tetragrammaton is consonants only and the reader of scripture would add the correct vowels as he or she was reading the text. Today, no one knows exactly what the vowels should be to make up the so-called 'divine name'. The most simple, unscholarly way for me to explain this to you is as follows:

Suppose you have your own religion and your God is named BILL. In the language that you write your sacred scrolls, you only use consonants and no vowels. Since you are fully aware that your god is named BILL, each time that you see BLL written in your sacred scrolls you correctly assume that it is in reference to your god, BILL. Now, fast forward a few thousand years and someone discovers your ancient texts. They love the texts and feel that a new religion should be established on the information found in these scrolls. There is only one problem and that is, what is your Gods name on which to base your religion ? Since the vowels that constructed the name are no longer known, what vowels do you use to reconstruct the name of your most holy and divine being? A, E, I, O, U or Y? So the God who is named BILL could be incorrectly named any of the following just by adding the incorrect vowels:

    BALL

    BELL

    BOLL

    BULL

So now, the true name of your sacred God is 'lost in translation' ! Would it not be disrespectful to keep calling your God by a name that He or She did not apply to him or herself? Is it really PURE worship to call your God by a name that may or may not be correct? When people speak to you, don't you like to be addressed by your proper name? Wouldn't you get sick and tired of someone always getting your name wrong even though they were sincere in trying to communicate with you? Lots to think about.

Well most Bibles have the name Jehovah in it, it's the most agreed upon. In the new system this name may look different again who knows, everyone may speak a different language. For now we take the most agreed upon name and tell others about it like Jesus said to.

Loveunihateexams The Bible says love everyone and so JW do. It does not matter who translated the name.

Can you give an example of this love that JWs have for the world? If the JW religion traces itself to Jesus and his apostles, then what are the JW fruits to the world? Things that you can point to and say "See, JWs prove their love for all people by ______" Or "Look at their fruits, they ____ and ___"

I've always wanted to know, but always am left with a lame brain explanation of nonsense.
