I used to do the "Accounts" in my cong. Long about 93-94 they came out with a KM insert in the USA saying you couldn't use computers in preparing the reports.

That REALLY frosted my butt whatwith the fancy computers and LANs I knew they had at Brooklyn.

This was really the first salvo in the general mistrust of computers and the Internet they've continued with. Funny, now that the 'Net is so widespread, I wonder how much "secret porn" inhabits PCs at Columbia Heights?

Most stupid rule? The dishcloth practise for women, when they had to take the lead. What a load of absolute crod!

FLDude: Seriously? Why, are they scared that THE DEEMINZ!!! will intercept Bethel's money?

Some of the "Rules" seem to be local practices, perhaps the whim of your congo overseer, since they are new to me.

The Assembly Rules are Universal though. I once wrote and told the Society just what I thought of them after having had to present the annual item of do's and dont's at the Service Meeting.

I could never see the point of re instating someone, with love, hugs and joy.. and then smiting them with "Restrictions" so they could not participate, just at a time when they needed encouragement .

Funny that! ........and dins. What is a Tootsie Roll?

Definition of a Tootsie Roll: A small, round, tubular shaped sweet, flavoured with chocolate and some sort of other flavours that don't resemble chocolate but when you're bored at the meeting, you'll eat anything!!

Just got off the phone with my sister and she said that the reason we were told not to eat these lovely delicacies was because they had BLOOD in them! I suppose that's why I probably prefer the dark now!!

I bet their Network Administrator has a field day checking out their Proxy Server, of course, they don't think their website activities cannot be traced. LOL!

Though I've never been a JW, I think all of their rules are stupid. Among the ones that I experienced from a JW:

    • No celebrating birthdays and holidays.
    • No partaking on charities, September 11 is one example.
    • No blood donation.
    • No Association and Friendship with non-JWs, especially.

So much for their so-called "Christian" love, it's more like Anti-Christian love or Anti-love.

The rule that pissed me off is no tongue kissing at book study.

My cousin and I both had sons who got involved with drugs, smoking cigarettes, sex and booze. Mine was baptized, hers wasn't. Mine was df'd and of course her son wasn't.

The stupidity was that her son was still welcome at all the family gatherings, while mine had to sit it out. Both were 'bad' weren't they? That one really frosted me. Her son could be part of a family wedding, at the KH, but mine had to sit in the back, and no one would talk to him. What was the difference?

Even now, 25 years later, her son is not a JW, still involved in all of the above, not married, in and out of jail all the time, but still treated like a favored member of the family. Don't get me wrong, I love him very much.................when he is with the family, he is very funny, entertaining and very endearing. He was wonderful with his mother when she was dying, and I will never forget that about him. His grandmother, who is a JW, openly calls him her favorite................but, but, but ??????

Anyway, that is my stupid org. rule comment.

    Mulan,

So the trick is "Don't become a brother". That way they cannot remove the "wicked" worldly person.
