    favorite bands / artists are:

    The Chameleons
    John Lennon / The Beatles
    Television Personalities
    The Cure
    Neil Young
    Kings of Convenience
    Babybird

most of these would fall under "indie" or underground music, mostly out of the UK or Europe. I also listen to some country (Johnny Cash, Gram Parsons), rap (Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg) and soul (Marvin Gaye, Shuggie Otis).

and I was lucky enough to see Dave Zollo playing with Greg Brown at the Green Room in Iowa City on new years eve a year and a half ago.
System of A Down and Shakira - not singing in English.
    That's an overview.

Joe Satriani is, IMHO, the greatest living musician. His 1998 album, "Crystal Planet", is something beyond anything.
