Our first year university science (101) professor began his first lecture with the statement: "This is not a Mickey-Mouse course!"

That moment was priceless...because we then knew exactly what we were in for that symester.

Yes, the time must come shortly that the nations will have to know that really a "prophet" of Jehovah was among them. Actually now more than a million and a half persons are helping that collective or composite "prophet" in his preaching work and well over that number of others are studying the Bible with the "prophet" group and its companions.

He had a "prophet" to warn them. This "prophet" was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah’s Christian witnesses

A third way of coming to know Jehovah God is through his representatives...So, does Jehovah have a prophet to help them, to warn them of dangers and to declare things to come?...Thus this group of anointed followers of Jesus Christ, doing a work in Christendom paralleling Ezekiel’s work among the Jews, were manifestly the modern-day Ezekiel, the "prophet"commissioned by Jehovahto declare the good news of God’s Messianic kingdom and to give warning to Christendom...no word or work of Jehovah can fail, for he is God Almighty, the nations will see the fulfillment of what these witnesses say as directed from heaven.

And here's why WT spends so much time diverting attention from the fact it HAS claimed to be a prophet:

Jehovah, the God of the true prophets, will put all false prophets to shame either by not fulfilling the false prediction of such self-assuming prophets or by having His own prophecies fulfilled in a way opposite to that predicted by the false prophets. False prophets will try to hide their reason for feeling shame by denying who they really are. (Paradise Restored to Mankind By Theocracy 1972, Pages 353 & 354)

    Hi All,

I went to my meeting last night as well...False Prophets..Let's take a look at Deut. 18:20-22:However, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. 21 And in case you should say in your heart: “How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?” 22 when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. With presumptuousness the prophet spoke it. You must not get frightened at him.’

Here's the question that must be asked....did witnesses say God said these things ? That is the deal breaker right there...Who said 1975 will be the end of this system, the GB or Jehovah, who said in 1914, Jesus ruled invisibly..but if you look at Matt. 28:18, just before Jesus went to heaven he said...All authority has been given me in heaven & on earth...who said Michael was Jesus...if you are a mouthpiece of someone, then you claim to be their representative, n'est pas ? Here is the legal loop hole...or a question to ask witnesses...did they say they Jehovah said it ??? If so then they are false because they also claim that the FDS is inspired by the Holy Spirit. FDS giving us the right food at the right time... was the food right & the time wrong or time right & wrong food....What has happened is that they ran ahead of the scriptures & not too many folks could challenge them, that put them at an advantage...if they didn't say Jehovah said it...then the call is...SAFE....& CAN RUN STRAIGHT TO HOME BASE...

So again, the question to pose to a witness is simply this..."Did you ever say that Jehovah said it" ? If he didn't then they can wiggle out of the accusation...I looked on line..let me share this..

Watchtower 1972 April 1 p.197 'They Shall Know that a Prophet Was Among Them' ***

People today can view the creative works. They have at hand the Bible, but it is little read or understood. So, does Jehovah have a prophet to help them, to warn them of dangers and to declare things to come?

    IDENTIFYING THE "PROPHET"

These questions can be answered in the affirmative. Who is this prophet? ... This "prophet" was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah's Christian witnesses. ... Of course, it is easy to say that this group acts as a "prophet" of God. It is another thing to prove it. The only way that this can be done is to review the record

How many times does a person have to steal to be called a Thief?

I wonder if there is a witness out there that has all the literature in a library, to put all this to rest...you can't deny if it's in black & white....& not from their library, just a good old hoarder...then they can go to HDQ, & show them all the old literature. But the Org. is skillful..or should I say shrewd, which isn't a good word..if you look it up..it applies to being crafty. I like the word discerning better.

True, there have been those in times past who predicted an 'end to the world', even announcing a specific date. Yet nothing happened. The 'end' did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying. (Awake, Oct. 8, 1968).

"If you are a young person, you need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this system of things...Therefore, as a young person, will never fufill any career that this system offers." May 22 1969 Awake

July 15, 1976, The Watchtower, commenting on the

inadvisability of setting our sights on a certain date, stated:

“If anyone has been disappointed through not following this

line of thought, he should now concentrate on adjusting his

viewpoint, seeing that it was not the word of God that failed

or deceived him and brought disappointment, but that his

    own understanding was based on.

" Thus what is taught is not from men but from Jehovah "-Sept 15 2010 Wt para 8 pg 13

"This chronology is not of man, but of God. Being of divine origin and divinely corroborated, present-truth chronology stands in a class by itself, absolutely and unqualifiedly correct...." (Watchtower, July 15, 1922 p. 217)

    Watchtower Magazine 8/1/2001 page 14 par. 8:

First, since "oneness" is to be observed, a mature Christian must be in unity and full harmony with fellow believers as far as faith and knowledge are concerned. He does not advocate or insist on personal opinions or harbor private ideas when it comes to Bible understanding. Rather, he has complete confidence in the truth as it is revealed by Jehovah God through his Son, Jesus Christ, and "the faithful and discreet slave."

w10 7/15 p.23 par.10 "The Spirit Searches Into... the Deep Things of God"

When the time comes to clarify a spiritual matter in our day, holy spirit helps responsible representatives of "the faithful and discreet slave" at world headquarters to discern deep truths that were not previously understood. (Matt. 24:45; 1 Cor. 2:13)

p.17: "Listening to the slave class means giving our full cooperation to its Governing Body."

p.27: "Since Jehovah God and Jesus Christ completely trust the faithful and discreet slave, should we not do the same?" "The slave thus deserves our complete trust"

p.28: "By all means, then, let us listen to the Christ and his trustworthy spirit-anointed brothers."

If the GB wants to claim God directs their every move, then when failures occur, one of two things is true:

    1. It's God's fault,

    2. God has never been telling the WT what to do at any time, therefore false dates are the result of human false prophets. "Do not fear them".

  • AndDontCallMeShirley
    AndDontCallMeShirley

    Follow this progression:

    1. The WT is "god's prophet"

    2. WT sets definite dates

    3. These dates are "god's dates"

    4. When said dates fail: 'We (WT) never stated specific dates, we merely "inferred" them. Oops.'

    5. Setting false dates is not false prophesying- it's only "tacking". Get over it.

    6. 'Even though we (WT) say admitting a mistake takes "bigness", we're not going to do it.' WT doesn't admit mistakes.

    1 . w64 10/1 p. 601 Pay Attention to Prophecy

Those who do not read can hear, for God has on earth today a prophetlike organization...He designates these Christians as his "faithful and discreet slave."

    2. "We have no doubt whatever in regard to the chronology relating to the dates of 1874, 1914, 1918, and 1925. It was on this line of reckoning that the dates 1874, 1914, and 1918 were located; and the Lord has placed the stamp of his seal upon 1914 and 1918 beyond any possibility of erasure. What further evidence do we need? Using this same measuring line.... it is an easy matter to locate 1925, probably in the fall, for the beginning of the antitypical jubilee. There can be no more question about 1925 than there was about 1914." (Watchtower, p. 150, May 15, 1922)

    3. We see no reason for changing the figures--nor could we change them if we would. They are, we believe, God's dates, not ours. But bear in mind that the end of 1914 is not the date for the beginning, but for the end of the time of trouble.
    Zion's Watch Tower, 15 July 1894, page 1677

    4. But how did they feel when that did not occur in 1914? TheWatchTower of April 15, 1916, stated: "We believe that the dates have proven to be quite right. We believe that Gentile Times have ended." However, it candidly added: "The Lord did not say that the Church would all be glorified by 1914. We merely inferred it and, evidently, erred."

    (Proclaimers (Jv) Ch. 28, p 635)

    5. However, it may have seemed to some as though that path has not always gone straight forward. At times explanations given by Jehovah’s visible organization have shown adjustments, seemingly to previous points of view. But this has not actually been the case. This might be compared to what is known in navigational circles as "tacking." By maneuvering the sails the sailors can cause a ship to go from right to left, back and forth, but all the time making progress toward their destination in spite of contrary winds. And that goal in view for Jehovah’s servants is the "new heavens and a new earth" of God’s promise.—2 Pet. 3:13.

    (W 12-1-81, p 27, par.2)

    6. w7211/1p.643BeBigEnoughtoAdmitaMistake

"Stumble" is just another word for "make a mistake." And though we all make mistakes, how difficult it is to admit making one! It goes against one’s pride.

When one is charged with making a mistake one is prone to want to justify oneself, to make excuses, to shift blame onto others, or to deny having made the mistake. It takes bigness to admit a mistake, to shoulder the blame, to admit that one has been wrong, or used poor judgment.

Refusing to admit that one has made a mistake is like claiming infallibility
