I just started "I am a strange loop" by Douglas Hofstader (the guy who wrote Godel, Escher, Bach years ago).

I loved the Raj Quartet and there are a few short novels I have re-read (Catcher in the Rye, Brave New World) but I cannot imagine re-reading nearly 4,000 pages!

Douglas Hofstader is both anti-gun and a vegan.

I read him for his mathematics, not his politics.
