Plagiarizing myself from a post from the JWStruggle discussion forum:

First century Jerusalem was in an adulterous relationship with the Roman Empire (the Wild Beast). There was some dirty behind-the-scenes collusion between the Priests and Roman officials that kept the money rolling in.

The Wild Beast has 7 heads or rulers, which were viewed as heirs of Julius Caesar.
    Five Caesars did fall:
    (1) Julius Caesar
    (2) Caesar Augustus
    (3) Caesar Tiberius
    (4) Caesar Caligula
    (5) Caesar Claudius

At the time of John's writing Revelation, "one is"
    (6) Nero, who reigned from 54 to 68 AD.

And we learned that: "the other did not yet come, and when he may come, it behooves him to remain a little time".
    (7) Caesar Galba (who only reigned for seven months)

We know the Beast has a number 666.
If the Greek version of Nero Caesar is translated into Hebrew, it sums into the number 666.

    Resh (200) + Sameck (60) + Qoph (100) + Nun (50) + Vav (6) + Resh (200) + Nun (50) = 666

The Julio-Claudian dynasty comes to an end with the death of Nero in 68, and thus the Wild Beast goes off into the abyss. Thereafter was the year of Year of the Four Emperors, and the Roman Empire underwent a civil war. But in 69, the Roman Empire revived and came out of the abyss.

Indeed, Londo111. And you wonder why Protestant denominations never refer to or educate their parishioners on the Church's deeply rich history. There are so many gems, like the aformentioned, that the modern churches are suppressing. There is a conspiracy within the church and has been for hundreds of years. Afterall, you don't defeat an enemy from the outside. Better that you corrupt it from within.

Or how about this gem. There is a reference in the Talmud about misleading Christians on the timing of the 70 Weeks of Daniel. Ask yourself, why would the rabbis want Christians to misunderstand the correct timing of the weeks?

Daniel is a fraud, there is no prophecy in Daniel. It was written after the fact in 160bce not 500, thats how he managed to get a few facts right, and then he got many other historical facts wrong as well. The 70 weeks thing is just nonsense, best of ignored.

Wait - so if the Thousand Year Reign of Christ began in 70 AD but isn't a literal number and has been ongoing ever since, does that mean Satan is still in the Abyss? So when is his release date?

And does this mean Satan had no influence on Hitler?

" Futurism, specifically dispensationalism, has one goal: to take the focus off of history, which is Christ, and put it on Israel and the so-called chosen people (idolatry)."

Oh, you mean side-line Christ and focus on Spiritual Israel and it's future? Like this?!

    Great video on subject.

The Fall of Jerusalem and the ApocalypseThe destruction of Jerusalem at the hands of the Romans in 70 a.d. brought to definitive conclusion the Old Covenant era, and freed the fledgling Christian church from its tether to the city what had become, in the words of the Apocalypse, the figurative 'Sodom' and 'Gomorrah.' While the interpretation of the book of Revelation remains controversial, it has always been the view of some that the colorful images of the last book of the Bible were intended to describe the final days of the 'harlot' city, 'Days of Vengeance,' as Jesus called them, while announcing the beginning of the New Covenant era under the regime of the Messiah.Play AudioPlay Video
